Lol why does his name come up every year? Torts clearly doesn't want him. He didn't want him in tampa and he didn't want him here. Whether or not he could help us is irrelevant.

The folklore of Paul Mara continues. Must be the beard.

Camp begins Sunday. Medicals and on the ice stuff on the same day. Travel day on Friday. John Shannon reported some NHL teams will scrimmage their AHL teams in place of preseason games.

I hope the Rangers scrimmage the Whale, would be good experience for some of those young players and it gets the Rangers up to close to game-speed for at least 60 minutes.

Paul Mara was never as good as a lot of people made out. Not sure he'd be an upgrade over Redden and his $6.5 mil contract even.

He would not be an upgrade. They're similar guys--playing a safe defensive game, good shots, but far too slow to play NHL hockey.

I really don't get all the arguing, debate or bickering over what the line combos should be.

I mean, you all gotta remember... We're the New York Rangers and we're coached by Torts. Every single line combination found in this thread will be tried by game 10!

A hockey player doing whatever he can to help his team win. That's a role suitable for his first full year until he proves he's more valuable over the other players ahead of the depth chart.

Everybody knows Kreider's not a bottom-6 guy. This is a good role for him for early on though. Let him crawl before he walks. If he proves he's too good for that role, all it takes is a couple of seconds to tweak things, which Torts will obviously do over and over against our wills.

I think Kreider moves up around the 10-15 game mark if he starts on the third line. I think Hagelin's offensive numbers last year are a little, unrealistic. Would love to be proven wrong though.

any line with Brian Boyle needs to shut down the other team's best players. Otherwise outside of the pk he is completely useless. So, with that said, his line should have experienced checkers who will not be discouraged by the lack of offensive chances. That is not a good situation for Kreider. You are better off leaving him in Hartford.

It's fun; pretty simple.

“@AGrossRecord: Dan Girardi limps back to dressing room favoring right leg after, wait for it, blocking a shot during #NYR informal scrimmage.”

I'd have to hold my breath the entire game. It's a good thing Artie isn't here anymore, imagine him crossing the blueline with his head down like he used to while McIlrath was on the ice? Oh boy :shakehead

At least Pashnin isn't with the Whale too, dude would be hip-checking people left and right

I've ready Cally on LW a few times so far. Keeping Gabby and Nash on RW. on the same note I read Nash on LW as well. Torts will mix it up alot

3rd and 4th lines have always been the same with Kreider, Boyle, Pyatt........Rupp, Halpern, Asham

Girardi will be fine.

This is probably the first time he had to block a shot since last season. They probably forgot how painful it can be:laugh:
