Yeah, you just enjoy staying as loyal fans to mediocrity for eternity then. It will probably be another 50 years before seeing another cup win. I'm glad you're happy with that, because that will make your fandom much easier.

Zuccarello isn't the difference between winning a Cup or not for this team.

Also, if we had kept Zuccarello, we would not have the cap space for Panarin

The Rangers just drafted 2 forwards with star potential in back to back drafts and because of not resigning Zuc we also have a guy whose a mvp candidate. You cant actually think because we dont have Zuc were that much worse off now or in the future lmao, what a shit take

who was that zucc lover poster? I forgot his name

nvm got it.

this is honestly one of the worst threads ive seen on here. i swear some ppl are fans of the random players more than the team. zucc is a 33 year old little winger. since moving him weve got kreider, kakko, laf, panarin, and buchnevich on the wings. why the f*** wud u want zucc now? we got a 2nd rounder in the trade and cud have gotten 2 first if conditions were met. if the demand for zucc was high then we wudda taken 1sts that werent conditional, but obviously the rest of the league wasnt interested in zucc for that price. christ.

There was heartbreak no question about it. As much as I hate to say it, it's a business though.

We kinda made Zucc too, you know? It's us that took him over the pond. Nobody owes anybody.

Most importantly, I'm also in camp "if we had signed Zucc, no Bread, no Kakko, no LAF".

It had to be done Chimp. The "measly return" part can be ignored with the current plethora of young bodies. Was disappointed too, but as of now, it doesn't matter.

I totally disagree that "the window will be closed for a very long time" ... I rather think, that would have been true, if we had re-signed Zucc.

We have the most young players in the league, it feels like. And we are seeing monster grow in front of our eyes.

Open them up and enjoy the show!

Loved Zucc and appreciate the heart and skill he brought during his career but this is a bad time to be talking about this when we have about 3 amazing wingers, 1 very good winger and one in Gauthier who has potential.

I think a lot of you easily dismiss the impact Zucca would've had on this current lineup.
That's all I have to say..

Impact Zucc would have on the current lineup <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Impact trading & not re-signing Zucc had on building the current lineup in the first place

Embracing mediocrity is re-signing players to massive paydays because of what they've done in the past, not what you expect them to do over the lifetime of the contract. Zuccarello's contract is a disaster, and we made a great decision in staying way the hell away from it

Don't be a knucklehead.
He influenced the most important player this team's had in many years so to discount his presence on the team is nothing short of dumb..

Love Zuc, but the contract he since signed hasn't looked good until he started playing with Kaprizov, and thats only a handful of games. We did the right thing even if i miss having him on the team.

You mean the player who's not here anymore?

Re-read my post, and then tell me with a straight face that we'd be better off with Zucc, and sans Panarin (and probably Kakko & Lafreniere too).

Extending Zuccarello would have been a much bigger mistake. I know hes had a hot start to the season, but remember Callahan was a PPG for the first 30 games or so during his first full season with Tampa before that carriage turned into a pumpkin. It looks nice now, but he will revert back to what he really is soon enough. Funny how you didn't mention how much he sucked last year which was a MUCH bigger sample size than what hes done this year.

Years 3-4-5 were always going to be the biggest issue with him. Moving on from him was the RIGHT move, the only reason why he didn't return more than he did is because he coasted for the first 3 months of 2018-19 and then chased the money/security in Minnesota instead of a chance to win in Dallas (which was 100% his right.) Zuccarello pouted on his way out of town, what makes you think he would have been capable of handling the load in the room under difficult situations? If anything, the evidence points to it being more likely that he would have completely folded.

Also, if they kept him, they likely don't have Kakko OR Lafreniere. These things are all connected. LOL at Grabner for Peanuts. What the f*** did you think he was going to return? Did you forget that part of his return was used to trade up to get Miller, who is currently eating 20+ minutes a night for our team right now?

This is a contender for the worst post of 2021 which is saying something because the DeAngelo thread and the Panarin thread both exist.

Does no one pay attention to the salary cap, and how that restricts roster options?

The official trade was

Comment:The 2nd will become a 1st if Dallas wins two rounds of the playoffs, and the 3rd also becomes a 1st if the Stars re-sign Zuccarello.

Please someone correct me but neither of the conditions were met as mentioned above.

I think (looking up) we used 2019 pick on Matthew Robertson and the 2020 pick on Oliver Tärnström.

Besides the great points made above that the dominoes fell in our favor to draft Kakko and Lafrenière, Robertson may be lost in a numbers game with our D prospect pool and Tärnström is a center (not sure how he projects).

Zuc could've been kept if this GM didn't make other idiotic signings.
Yes..I can say that with a straight face

I love Zucc but if anything we waited too long

Probably get a 1st if we traded him the deadline prior instead of bullshit conditions that I never for a second thought would be reached
