I don't like making prediction but our D is going to be .

Nurse Barrie
Keith Larsson
Samorkov Bouchard
Russell
Altho I would like to add Ekholm and drop Keith and Samorukov down . We would have to punt Russell

Bear will be traded for a forward . Hall or Hyman will fill out our top line . Goodrow our 3rd C . Koskinen will go to Chicago with 50% retained + Jones and Chicago will buy him out . Keith will come at 35% retained .

Hyman/Hall McDavid Puljujarvi
Dry
XXX Goodrow Kassian
Benson McLeod Archibald
Shore Khaira

XXX=Bear trade
Neal Bought out or traded .

New goals
New goalie . I got a feeling after the year Smith had he is going to ask for too much money and want to be the number one guy . I hope I am wrong

I actually like what ya got here. Might need to tweak a little of the defence ( my need a vet with 3rd ) but I’m onboard
I strongly think we will get one of these players
Debrusk
Tatar
Schwartz
Rakell

u mentioned Bear trade. Maybe that is the piece for players I listed

Sorry about the above post ...kinda tired of the Ovi, Landeskog, Hall, Coleman, Schwartz etc etc brigade.
But yes it will take a trade ...its highly unlikely to be Rakell even though he would work for a couple of years.
And where did I mention the players that u have listed. I agreed with his post on getting Rakell and u replied with a Get Real post . Fill us in

just don’t see him giving up on 10ish million dollars.
He's owed 3.6mil in real dollars

Just seems like all three parties would be happier.

Acquiring team doesn't give up assets.
CHI isn't forced to retain on Keith or take bad contract.
Keith can go wherever he wants.

Why? Anaheim was listening to offers for him last year. Their fanbase seems to think he could be had for a 1st and a forward prospect, so unless they are stuck on it being Holloway there is a deal to be had there I believe.

I would rather Rakell then overpay on Hyman. I think that Hyman contract will be like David Clarkson

did not think of that; and are they allowed to just mutually agree to part ways on a contract?

seems like something the NHL wouldn’t like, add on extra years at the end with a smaller dollars then just part ways?

Just throwing together a few things that have been talked about by some of the local media members here.

Keith@$4.5m for Jones and Koskinen
Patrick for Bear
Crouse for mid picks/prospects

Barrie 4 years $5m
Larsson 4 years $3.75m
Tatar 1 year $3m
Smith 1 year $2m
Starting Goalie up to $5.5m
Yamamoto 2 years $2m
Patrick 2 years $1.175m
Khaira 1 year $1m
Benson 2 years $850k

Buyout Neal
Bury Turris

RNH-McDavid-Pulju
Tatar-Drai-Yamo
Crouse-Patrick-Kassian
Khaira-Glendening-Archibald
Shore/Benson

Nurse-Barrie
Keith-Larsson
Russell-Bouchard
Lagesson

New Goalie
Smith

Third line would be a question mark but three big guys who can skate well, if they click they could wreak havoc. Lineup leaves enough cap room to allow for a potential return of Klefbom in place of Russell. Tatar won’t be the most popular add but he’s a guy who’s shown he can score at ES consistently, and the hope would be that Benson or Holloway could steal his spot similar to what Caufield did in Mtl this year.

lots of talk that Patrick wants outta Philly. Western Canadian boy, could be a good landing spot for him to restart. I like your list, I just wanna add a name . I’m not sold on Tatar. How about another local product, Jake Debrusk

Technically you are both correct. A player being bought out must first be put on unconditional waivers. If the player is claimed the buyout process stops unless the player has a NMC, which Keith does. In that case, the player can reject the claim and the buyout process proceeds.
Why can't they do what happened to Gusev?

I'm sure they are willing to take a contract back but a bad contract? I just dont think Chicago makes a trade unless it helps their team in some way. They dont have to move Keith if it means shooting themselves in the foot.

I think their is a lot of back and forth between the two teams which doesnt bode well.

For starters Edmonton probably wants to make the move after expansion so they can protect Larsson, while Chicago would like to do it before expansion so they dont have to expose him to Seattle and risk losing him for nothing.

So ask yourself, does Seattle take Keith at his full contract? could be an interesting tactic if Chicago asks for too much.

Seattle selects Duncan Keith from Chicago.

Seattle sends Keith to Edmonton (with 50% retained) to for Edmontons 1st rounder, Mikko Koskinen and James Neal.

Seattle gets their 1st round pick to take on bad contracts.

Edmonton clears out 3.5M in dead cap space basically getting Keith at 2.77M for free.
Win win

$5.25m x 4 sounds like a realistic target contract for a potential free agent left wing. Which UFA would be most likely to sign it?

That's the ballpark for a guy like Schwartz, Saad, Granlund or Hoffman. Coleman might come in a bit cheaper. Hyman and Hall likely come in at a higher AAV and longer term.

Can't say that I'm overly thrilled with this year's UFA class. There's a lot of risk with all of them.

finally we get some cap room and it’s not the best UFA class at all. I will be watching UFA day though I must say

I have to agree with this, we are in the position where we have needs but with the weak UFA do we go all in or play modest and take advantage of the TDL and next offseason?

And the worst thing is we have to pay that dreaded cold weather tax to entice a UFA to play in Edmonton.

That’s why I’m beating the drum hard on a player from Western Canada who might be interested in going closer to home , or, things haven’t worked out for them in their respective cities
Debrusk?
Patrick?
Schwartz?

I didn’t realize but Rakell was born in Sweden. I got time for him as well

I like Reinhart from Buffalo for a trade option, as well as Palat with TBL and i think we have what it would take to get them

I think there are a few teams in on Reinhart.

I wonder if Eichel ends up in Calgary? I would like that. McDavid bs Eichel multiple times a year. I’m onboard
