Well boston or flordia will make quick work of this group in R1

Summer comes we will see Bert + Domi + Brodie + Samsonov replaced by similar type 1 or 2 year term flawed players

Leafs will have a 100-105 pt reg season next year and then rinse and repeat

Marner walking maybe the best thing we can hope for

He walks, Matthews asks for a trade waiving his NMC, nylander asks for a trade and waives his NMC and 2026 with no more Tavares we can begin the rebuild again

That above would be the darkest immediate timeline

Darkest long-term time-line is we have the above occur but our next rebuild is a ottawa/buffalo and we cant make playoffs for the next decade

Darket mid-time line is we run the core 4.0 at huge undeserved deals the next 5 years and get sent home in R1 or R2 everyear

Has management lost faith in this core group now? Matthews, Nylander were especially weak against Boston. They have to be dominant for this team to win and sadly they were just the opposite.
Whoever was serious about winning in the playoffs and still had faith in this core after seven years of failure, collapses and the like should find a new vocation.

I thought the majority didn't want any moves made? I was expecting more celebrating than this.

Hooray, we can go back to winning free agency and being able to tune out by December!

I feel like they should have traded Nylander before re-signing that ridiculous contract for a very skilled yet soft winger. Could have retooled on the fly a little, recouped the farm system too.

Is there a single player add that would have had us favoured against Boston in round one? Of course not. The team had an opportunity to make their case this week and got utterly dominated.

He filled some gaps on our roster. I don't think they were the most efficient or savvy moves but we retain our best assets. Whatever. Next realistic window of opportunity is in a couple of seasons unfortunately.

reading this was depressing ngl
but thats the cold hard truth right there

That is the darkest long-term time line

Darkest middle time line is running these losers the next 5 years and losing

Best time line is Cowan somehow being a generational player and regulating the core 4 to his backups while living and breathing for the leafs.....

1st round exists for the foreseeable future it will have to be

If brads not done, I’d imagine Kampf is a cap casualty in any money in/out deal

Whatever happens this playoffs, he's certainly able to recoup some picks by trimming the depth/secondary players and retool in the off-season, from Kampf to Jarnkrok to Timmins to maybe even one of the core players. Just depends if he wants to.

I would have traded him and Marner. I stated as such.

We've got to start building for 2025/26 Can't do a great deal until then.

I like Brad preserving some future.

That was my opinion during the FIRST negotiations with the core...
