Id love Giroux but dont think he totally fits the bill of what CJ said considering CJ said that this player had multiple years left on his deal.

what's saddest is you missing the point of my reply

No I've heard it. All of it. I've read all these posts. You anti dubas crew seem more weak and fragile than what you claim dubas to be (and I'm not even pro dubas)
Same posts over and over again. At this point the anti dubas crew are waaaay more annoying than the ppl from the church of dubas christ

I was thinking Couture but he is 32 and has 6 years left at 8m and a 3 team would accept a trade to list.

Also thinking Couturier who is 28 and has 1 year left on his deal at 4.34m would be a solid candidate.

Oops. I didn't see the multiple years left part. That would eliminate Getzlaf, Kane and Toews. I was also thinking Pavelski but he wouldn't fit this criteria either.

Who the hell is it?!

Since management believes the core of the team is almost perfect as it is, what will $1M summer bring to Toronto? Spezza return? Brendan Smith? Eric Staal? Marc Staal? Brad Richardson? Mike Smith?

I want more grind you down players, physical d-men and more secondary scoring with two way ability.

Sign Hyman - 5 x 5 m = 25 m.
Sign Oleksiak 3 x 2.8 m = 8.4 m.
Sign Dreidger 3 x 2.8 m = 8.4 m.
Trade Sandin for Connor Brown @ 50 %. (Only way we can get a top scorer at half price is give up a top prospect) Getting a player at half price doubles the returned value. So don't @ me about giving up Sandin.
Kerfoot to Seattle in expansion draft.
At the deadline should be able to pick up a Folingo or someone better like Forsberg.

Regular season:

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Robertson-Tavares-Marner
Galchenyuk-Spezza-Brown
Brooks-Nash-Mikheyev

Rielly-Brodie
Oleksiak-Holl
Muzzin-Bogosian

Campbell
Driedger

*Works cap wise.

Playoffs

Try and pick up a Forsberg or Hertl if we have any opportunities for cap circumvention using LTIR.

Forsberg-Matthews-Nylander
Robertson-Tavares-Marner
Galchenyuk-Spezza-Brown
Hyman-Nash-Mikheyev

Rielly-Brodie
Oleksiak-Holl
Muzzin-Bogosian

Campbell
Driedger

Yeah Sandin is a non starter especially for Brown…and I love the way Connor brown plays the game…yeah basically tank out D depth (it’s not like it’s the guy we plan to turn the keys to the D corps over to or anything…good god

we are guessing of course. And it is probably just fodder for rating but. My guess is provorov.

You know who becomes a big cranky bitch and even calls out his young teammates when he is losing? Drew Doughty.
I've been thinking about this one. He does fit the criteria. Even the SIGNIFICANT and ATTITUDE part.

There's also been recent talk about Rielly and trading him early if the Leafs know they can't afford him.

So, what would a significantly retained Doughty be worth? Rielly and Sandin? LA seems to have an abundance of young forward prospects......d-men would make more sense.

I think it depends on retention. He has 6 years left so any amount of retention would be expensive.

If they wanted Doughty at $7M, I think the Kings would ask for Nylander and a lot more, which the leafs shouldn't consider.

I don't think it's realistic, just a name that fits the description.

Say they want Doughty at 8.5 or 9M. What would we have to add to Rielly to get it done, in your opinion? I have no clue. Just curious what you or others think.

What the hell has Provorov accomplished that makes him fit the description of 'significant person that alters the attitude'? Hell, Mitch Marner fits that description way better than Provorov.
He probably doesn't fit the description that well, but I like him as a player. More than Marner.

If they're taking Doughty at $9M, then ELCs are even more important. So I would be really reluctant to part with Robertson, Sandin, Liljegren or Amirov.

So basically Rielly + Holl + Abramov/Abruzzese or something like that. I really don't want to give up much for him at $9M.

Nope Kane has 2 years left...I definitely think its him considering how he emphasized that its a big name fans would be excited about and the fact that the hawks are likely to want to rebuild with prospects which is wht we would be offering.

Also makes a lot of sense considering we could take on LTIR money like Seabrook/Shaw/Toews.

We have Amirov/Robertson/Liljegren/Niemela/Sandin(hopefully not him) and 2022 1st as trade pieces. I definitely think we have the capital to get this done but I think there are some teams that could potentially outbid us with higher end prospects. I'd be most scared of Rangers offering Kakko+ or the Avs offering Byram to go all in.

i guess this is what you get when the positive posters like Dekes for Days and Zeke disappear after yet another failed post season , lol

but what you call whining others call just stating the reality of the situation

no worries though , Dubie will sign this years version of Lehtonen/barabonov/Joe /simmonds etc and this place will fill up with the cheer boys saying omg this is our f***ing year and i can't believe how many great players our Lord Dubie signed for min wage
:thumbu:

Don't touch the core. It just has to be the right veteran additions and subtractions. It's bound to work this summer. That this 1 year mercenary hire approach has pretty much never worked for a Cup is immaterial. They were so close this time with Thornton, Simmonds, Spezza, Bogosian, Foligno (to winning a playoff round). It's bound to work in 2021-22.

CJ never said any of that.
CJ said.
-multiple years left
-American team
-didn’t play in playoffs.
-high caliber. High potential player.

In other things. Leafs need more D and unsure RE rielly.

We don’t know if Elliott’s and CJ are taking about the same person.

also. Provorov is a known rink rat and machine. But I don’t know if that would fit Friedman’s take.

Dylan Larkin?

Dylan Larkin?

maybe?
I just don’t see how they could do that and afford the core.

my guess. Total and complete guess is that

1.) they are thinking they can’t afford rielly. If he isn’t going to be our PP d man then we can’t pay him 7.5

2.) rielly may sign in Philly.

To me it would have to be a D right? Like we can’t spend tons on 5 forwards and expect to extend rielly.

Again complete guess

Top players with contract term
Anaheim - Cam Fowler? Lindholm?
Arizona - OEL?
Buffalo - nobody ( not considering Eichel available for US)
Chicago - Toews ( with retention we can make it work) Kane big contract and trade value
Detroit - Larkin?
Dallas - Seguin? Jamie Benn?
Los Angeles - Doughty ( with retention)
Rangers - nobody that fits the bill
Devils - subban? Not the same player
Philly - Konecny or Coutourier or Provorov
San Jose - Evander Kane?
Columbus - nobody

I have no idea, probably from Philly
