Blake Coleman is worth the obsession. He’s a really good player.

Goodrow and Jones however….. lol

Yes, but the Coleman issue is the same as with Hyman. Physical, forechecking player who is approaching 30.

That's a really big risk for a team with as little margin for cap error as Toronto.

I like Goodrow and Coleman, but they will surely get overpaid, and not worth that money playing on the third line.

Eh, the ideal value should be between (depending on term) 3.75-4.25M. And frankly, that might be low balling it.

Hyman has scored at a 28 goal pace over the last 3 seasons. 165 games. That’s quite a large sample size.

He could walk into free agency and his agent could probably get a team to give him the Josh Anderson deal.

Hyman is the exact type of forward teams should crave.

Anything starting with a 5 shouldn’t happen. Anything starting with a 4 or less is acceptable.

I already replied to another post of yours but the same applies. Great player, deserves a ton. Just not from Toronto.

Is Michael Bunting worth it on a league min deal? Showed some promise in Arizona in small sample, from Toronto, playing for Team Canada, played for the OHL Grey Hounds?

Yeah, you can say what you want about Dubas, but he is consistently looking to make big moves to improve the team.

I doubt Dubas is going to stop that now

His job literally depends on it.

I'd expect some substantial changes (for better or for worse) even if they don't touch the core 4 forwards

The Craig Smith contract is the template for Hyman or Coleman. Any more is a risk not worth taking.

This reads like one of those Danny Ainge stories for those that also follow basketball.

Danney Ainge spent almost 20 years as a GM and had a thousands stories of "almost trades" to keep the fanbase engaged while he did nothing.

Ainge also made all sorts of trades, many of which were absolute larceny and will end up in the hall of fame. Dubas is at best a wannabe Daryl Morey.

Smith was a little bit older and does not have as much defensive value, so Hyman + Coleman should get a little bit more, but they should not be getting these ridiculous 5 mill, long term contracts.

Holland has cap space. Anything is possible.

I’m not sure this is the right guy but apparently minny found out that a G didn’t sign after college and will be going ufa.

We is standing pat with rittich and not giving such much for our second goalie. He might be anybody really. Mcelhinney, some otha sucka, kahkonen, talbot, some other fool, dork, like anderson craig, Elliott, some real cool fool, raanta. Raanta.

See, we don't give a f***.

Something to keep in mind is that Jack Campbell is either a 1 season wonder or he's due for a big raise after next season. If he posts another 0.920+ season, he's getting paid by someone.

I think one of the biggest issues with this team is we just have way too many of the same players. I understand we want to be a team with speed but when you have players like Mikheyev, Engvall, Kerfoot (minus the playoffs because I thought he was one of our better players). These are all players that while bring speed, don't bring much of anything else. When it comes to our bottom 6, I think it's crucial to have those players with speed but also some jam. Casey Czikas is a perfect example. I'm not taking about Wayne Simmonds because he was absolutely useless this year. We need some speedy grinders. I really hope we're able to get Coleman as well.

Actually, Smith has a better defensive impact than both. Followed by Coleman.

Hyman's defensive impact is extremely inconsistent. He actually might be the worst of the three.

He may price himself out of our situation, but I don't expect anyone to offer huge money to him. Just too many good goalies in the league right now.

Yeah, the Leafs basically get Campbell cheap for one more year.

Not huge money for sure. The Leafs defense has improved a lot. And it wouldn't be a long track record, and the fact he was a backup for so long. I wouldn't expect Andersen money. But still a raise would be in order.

Schwartz ($5m) AM Nylander
Robertson Tavares Marner
Kuraly (1.75m) Granlund (3.5m) Armia (2m)
Lemieux Brooks Spezza

Reilly Brodie
Muz Holl
Sandin Bogo

Campbell
Mrazek

trade Mikheyev to LA for Brendan Lemieux
Trade Engvall for a pick
Lose one of Kerfoot Holl or Dermott to Seattle

Schwartz could also be Hyman or Saad
Kuraly and Armia could be other guys like Brock McGinn Martinook Janmark Nosek etc
If Robertson not ready can sign another vet and move Armia up. Granlund would give some insurance for someone who could slide up the lineup. Could also go three lines at times with AM and Schwartz. JT and Marner and Granlund and Willie.
I would be fine if Holl left and Dermott was in that spot as well.
Mrazek could be a few other guys as well
