This team is a joke lol. Treliving talks about the roster needing a lot of work and basically just runs back the same bullshit minus Bert/Brodie/Samsonov and +Tanev/OEL/StolarzBrossoitetc. Cool, we MIGHT get back to the second round this time!!!
Can you people relax... It's not his fault Tavares & Marners contracts are still here and unmovable. Once Tavares is at least off the books that's when he can really get to work.

Guentzel's had a single 80pt season, and played with Crosby. That contract is absolutely brutal
That's like saying Marner isn't a 100 point player and Matthews isn't a 50 goal scorer until 3 years ago. Guentzel has paced over 80 4 of the last 5 seasons with another 76 and 73 point season to round out the last 6 years. Pretty damn good. But ya I'd barf if we signed him to that.

If it's a transition year while we wait out Tavares' deal, why lock yourself into someone like OEL with term?

They had a chance to move that chode Marner last season and they didn't. This organization is always terrible with timing. Gave Dubas control right before the most important contract negotiations needed to take place, fired Babcock too late, kept Keefe around 2 years too long and missed out on multiple good coaches (Cassidy, DeBoer, Laviolette, Trotz etc), kept Shanahan too long and botched a pivotal offseason where Marner's NMC hadn't kicked in, etc etc. Also constantly signing guys too late and never being proactive to try and negotiate earlier.

Because he's not over dramatic like you guys and knows that if he wants to eventually move out the contract later he can... And what are you even crying about? OEL is legit a better defenseman then 80% of our defenders last year and who just played every game on the team that won the cup....

OEL would honestly be a solid pickup. He’s big, moves the puck really well, has a good shot from the point, long reach, solid in his own zone and decently physical surprisingly… However being a lefty, not sure where the fit really is when you already have Rielly, McCabe and Benoit playing the left side. You can move McCabe to the right I suppose but with so many solid right handed defenceman in free agency, the whole point of this summer was to help the RIGHT side and sign right handed dmen.

Scary how much of a shit show this franchise is. It should be a desired location for free agents, not an automatic hard no.

If the pieces arent there this summer. Brad is better off signing cheap players to short term deals to not f*** us up in the future.

Signing Tanev to 6 years is stupid. Especially if it is pushing $5 million.

Signing Stolarz to $3 million is also nuts. $6 million in unproven goalies is going to playnout same way Samsonov/Murray did

Giving OEL 3 years and $4 million also nuts.

Lafferty 2 years x $1.25 million
Deanglo 1 year x $2 million
Broissot 2 years x $2.5 million
Hakanpaa 3 years x $2.5 million
Toffoli. 1 year x $3.5 million

Knies. Matthews. Nylander
Mcmann Domi Marner
Jarnkrok. Tavares. Toffoli
Holmberg. Kampf. Lafferty
Reaves

Rielly. Hakanpaa
Mccabe. Lilly
Benoit. Deangelo

Woll
Broissot

One of the most concerning parts about this off-season so far is the lack of interest players have playing in Toronto. A little worrisome tbh. We all want Skjei, Montour, Roy, etc but by the sounds of it, none of those players have any interest in coming here whatsoever.
because we have no room for them
