He's a 100 point player, how is he overpaid by 3m lmaooo. You are exactly why other fan bases laugh at this fan base. And you're exactly why good players don't come here to play.

Are you like special special? It's clear what the objective is with Tanev and anyone who hasn't caught on by now is clearly not the brightest.... Tanev will play 3-4 years and retire or LTIR. OEL is better then 80% of our defense last year and was good enough to play every game with the team that just won the cup... Tre is not over dramatic like you and knows that if he eventually wants to get rid of OEL or it doesn't work out he can still move the contract, there will always be teams looking for veteran help that thinks their close to going on a run. So making the defense better is hand cuffing the team? Okay great take.

Tanev --> low end 3D with major decline and injury risks
McCabe --> low end 4D
OEL --> low end 5D who at 4M will be an albatross
Lilijgren --> low end 6D making 3M
Benoit --> solid 6D making 1.3M

Our defense above is marginally better than the below at higher priced contracts to old declining players:

Rielly - Lub
McCabe - Lilijgren
Benoit - edmunson

How is he overpaid by 3M? Dude gets paid 11m. 11 f***ing million to play caspar in the playoffs.

I want both of them signed in Toronto to plan for 2025-26 season, get a backup goalie and done with it

Next season is a wash for the Leafs anyway. when marner+tavares are off the cap then Leafs can truly build their bottom six and defense

Fans won't put up with regular season failure after 8 years of playoff failure. They will sharpen their pitch forks. Count on it.

NJ has actually shown they can be a good team, they suffered some really bad injuries last year and lacked depth on D and in net, which they've addressed now. Plus they got a good coach. If they stay healthy they'll likely win their division. They made the second round at the same time we did and we've been rebuilding much longer

I agree if they run back the core.

If they do wind up making a big splash I think fans will give some time to see if they can gel
