He's a #5 who can play like a #4 on occasion. He will not be worth the money he signs for and Toronto is better off spending ~1 million more on someone like Roy
This is what a lot will post on the main boards, but it simply isn’t true. Zadorov was a consistent 20+ minute per night defenseman in the playoffs, on a good team in Vancouver. He was one of their better ones too. He is a second pairing defender and a good one. He just needs a quality partner and I believe he would have one in McCabe. This would be a solid pickup for us, and the leafs mgmt knows it.

Zadorov was 3rd in 5v5 ice per game for Vancouver in the playoffs and had strong results in terms of both raw and relative analytics. No issue with him at all in the top 4 if that's what it come to.

All of a sudden....

The anti leafs bias from the nhl is making this league unwatchable.

Well Gary Bettman is welcome to remember the Tanev deal 8 years from now when he’s a senile old man.

What a continuing joke the NHL is trying to enforce things outside the letter of the CBA, putting your thumb on the scale of justice for your little unpopular house league.

Reilly - Tanev
Zadorov - McCabe
Benoit - ??

Thats a big and nasty blueline
Adding a puck moving reclamation project as the #6 would make sense if that were to happen.

Boqvist checks some boxes. PP2 option whose one standout skill is his shot from the point. Difficulties staying healthy, but it’s a similar bet to what FLA did with Montour before he popped off.

Niemela could get some games in a rotation with him for that spot.

Have always liked him since his draft year (wanted him fir the Leafs in 2017), not sure if the Leafs D has room for a project in its current form though

The fact he mentions the Leafs and not Vegas or Tampa is ridiculous

He averaged 17 minutes a night in Vancouver

He's also 29 years old, we're not unlocking some untapped potential. He had a great playoff run but for the most part he's a #5 who is about to get paid like a top 4 defender
