Is Toronto starting to be impacted by the “don’t want to sign in Canada” group? How tf did our free agency look like this……. Pesce was a “target” all year and sign with a team he’d be buried on and we didn’t get any of the known targets. Also we had to overpay Tanev like crazy to come….
Not much point signing here for one round of playoffs while knowing full well the rich get richer for doing less

hypothetically speaking, as things stand. Goaltending and Defence are probably upgraded a decent amount.

It just seems like we are paying a lot for 5th and 6th dmen and what should be 4th line players.

Tanev at 4.5m who will probably be on our top pairing is objectively good value.

Leafs Home Board
Feeling dread for next year as basically the full lineup is complete
Leafs were always going to screwed with 4 of the top 12 highest AAV contracts all on 1 team with this being the year AM and WN raises overlapped JT and Marner expiring deals,

NO TEAM faces this type of CAP HELL .. :madfire:o_O Leafs own 1/3rd (4 of 12) of the highest contracts with 8 other players spread across 31 other teams. Not a surprise Leafs are the least successful team in the Salary Cap Era since 2004 with this beyond ridiculously self abuse overpaying players to play in Toronto.

This season is going to be precarious and always was expected to.,

Next year when JT and Marner contracts both end will be the time Treliving will be evaluated once his inherited Cap mess he inherited gives him some real relief depending on how he deals with both JT and MM.

Everyone here killed Treliving after July 1 last year, and then loved him on July 2. The leafs aren't done. There will be more moves.

Anaheim has $31M in cap space and only 4 D under contract. Something has to give

Buffalo and Detroit are also below the cap floor. Detroit has $50M in cap space next offseason. Probably keeping that flexibility if Drai, Marner or Rantanen make it to the market

@PromisedLand Boston signs Zadorov for 5M and Lindholm.

Leafs sign OEL.

What's the point of being a Leafs fan.

absolute JOKE of a team and management really. Even after signigng lindholm and zadorov boston still have 11M+ cap space. most of which will go to swayman but they are still a lot better. their RHD was solid to begin with now they've improved their LHD and added center depth

meanwhile Leafs are f***ing rolling with:
Matthews
Tavares (LOL not even good enough to be a 3C IMO)
Kampf
Dewar
Holmberg/Domi (LOL)

Meanwhile the 22M in cap space is eseentially DEAD capspace for Tavares+Marner as soon as playoffs roll around. More importantly, we've never seen Marner produce ppg without having a prime Tavares or Matthews as his center.

Its just a bad team building mojo when you have wingers making 11+ AAV and have four forwards with 11AAV+ on the roster next season.

They can still salvage teh situation and get Stephenson to play 2C and ship out Kampf+Jarnkrok (4.5M); knowing full well that they will use the 22M next off season to improve the team structure, cap allocation and round out the roster by not re-signigng tavares and marner. Essentially improving bottom 6 and D-core

Quite frankly.... this is the year where I will not be defending Leafs being a JOKE (or Laffs) on the mainboard. Leafs deserve to be laughed at. Sometimes you gotta own up to the incompetence and absolutely stupidity of your management.

Next season is going to be a f***ing JOKE anyway.... Berube isn't a messiah or hell even Scotty Bowman to turn petulant children like marner and basically a has been like tavares into servicable players.

I am just looking forward to 2025-2026 depending on whether or not we can get a 2C this season or not.....

While Guentzel has been better in the playoffs, it’s still changing but salary for wingers.. when D and centre help is most needed
Agreed. While they didn't trade for the 2 defensemen I wanted, I still think they upgraded tangibly. A top 6 center is what this team needs now, either through a trade with a team retaining salary, or signing a guy like Chandler Stephenson, which would require some combination of Kampf, Jarnkrok and / or Liljegren to be moved to make space.
