There is a conception here that the Leafs don't have the cap space to sign Hyman - and that just isn't true. They have the space - they do not want to sign him to his market level contract because while he is a great player, he will not age well. They are better off spending whatever his contract ends up being on other pieces. I don't fault him for going after the bag, but let someone else sign him to it.

I think I need to post this daily, whoever signs Hamilton to that 8mill per contract will regret it immediately. There's a reason the 6'6" top pair right shot Defensman is moving on to his 4th team in 9 seasons. Not to mention Rielly is roughly equivalent to regular season Hamilton and massively better than him in the post season AND will sign for less money, so why are we dumping Rielly to bring in this:

Keep posting this clip, who thinks a giant scaredy-cat is what this team needs?

Yup they have enough to sign Hyman. Unfortunately they don't have enough to fill out the rest of the roster with decent players if they do.

Unfortunately Shinny, Dubas and the Dubites do.
I want players who hate to lose first and foremost. It’s become obvious that you can have all the talent in the world, but if your desire to win isn’t there the chances of success are very low. I’d happily get rid of all the flashy quitters for less talented players simply because it would translate into a better chance for success. Pick up trucks over Ferraris every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The difference is Ferraris perform. We do not have Ferraris. We have Chevys.

Shanny and The Dube have really painted themselves into a corner. This offseason should determine their futures with this organization. I've given my support in the past but that's gone now. We've been shedding talent every year with no returns at all. There should be no more free passes with this management group.
Really, how have they done that compared to every other GM in the league who is also capped out, and doesnt have the elite core we do to build on?
We are in fact one of the better placed teams as far as our talent and cap, because we dont need a #1C or a #1 D, or a #1G like some capped out teams do.
the Canadians just had the fluke run of their lives, and need another 6 forwards and dont really have a #1C
...they may get lucky with Weber on LTIR, else they couldnt afford to ice a decent lineup and need to 'hope' Seattle picks Drouin to give them more cap space.
The Isles with the award winning Lou Lam are capped out and wont be able to afford to resign 3 core RFA's unless they find someone to take on one of the many bad contracts Lou signed for them
the list goes on and on for every team in the league.
all we need is filler, and we are complaining, seriously!

I'd say the issue is the inflexibility to move contracts or stubbornness.

We're trying to play armchair GMs and then you're operating under parameters of "Oh, can't move this guy" x4-5 players and given how much the big 4 take up of the cap, it's hard to ice a balanced good team.

Hyman became expendable when he started believing the media's hype of him.
Hyman's sole purpose on the to line was to play "Fetch & Retrieve" the problem is, that Hyman started to think he is a 'skill' player when he's not.
His sole purpose to to get the puck and feed it to Matthews and/or Marner but, he always tried to do things on his own, and killed more shifts than i care to remember!
I'll not miss him when he's screwing up someone elses offense is they are as dumb and play him on the top line.

we dont actually have any contracts we 'need' to move, or that are unmovable though. we are one of the few teams that doesnt have a 'bad' contract.
Marner ...he could have been paid less, but, his contract isnt 'bad' he's nearly a 100pt player and we are complaining, we need to be realistic/honest sometimes too.
Hyman on a $5mil deal would be an albatross like Lucic's deal, so, i'm glad we are not doing that.

At this point Dreger is nothing but a mouthpiece for agents to drum up business for their clients. He never breaks anything anymore but relies on agents to make himself look relevant.

The only true insider is Bob Mac all others are just not good. Guys like Friendman says he hears things but it is really just his point of view. CJ might be the closest thing to Bobby Mac.

Dreger just spews things to stay relevant. He hasn't had any connections since Nonis left and league-wide he doesn't really have connections with anybody.

Most insiders get worked by agents to help the agents clients

I would absolutely love Landeskog on this team. He is exactly the type of player we need. I would definitely move Marner if it means we're able to get Landeskog.

Here's a crazy proposal,

To Toronto-
Tyler Bertuzzi
Moritz Seider
Wsh 1st Round Pick

To Detroit-
Mitch Marner

Sign Landeskog at 6yrs x 6.5-7 million
I don't think Detroit would ever do this, but if they did....take it and run. Sprint!!

Yeah I think a lot of it is gms leaking stuff to mess with or sway other gms ... or an agent trying to get more money etc.

A good insider should be able to sift through the bullshit and report the facts. I do like CJ and Bob Mac. I don't think Bob is doing much these days.

I'll admit though during the dog days of summer even though some of the rumors are ridiculous its fun to see what crazy proposals come up even if it's just for a laugh. Some people get a little to worked up when someone says a proposal.

Go look at the main boards lol

Random, but I tried to see what Landeskogs ties to Toronto were out of curiosity because I never knew about it. Turns out his wife is from Toronto and he ended up quarantining here last year lol.
Yeah it's interesting. I will credit Dubas if he makes this work, but I don't know how you could without trading a Marner away.

Thanks for the videos, I haven't seen them before. This team definitely doesn't need more of this type.

However.... he is moving on to 4th team, but all were his choice. Each team wanted to keep him but he requested trades or in this case wants to go to ufa (Boston, Calgary. Carolina).
