Parise and Suter - signed together and bought out together! I'm sure they'll each/both land somewhere on short term deals.

.. Wait Minny has nearly $5 mill in dead cap space next year on buyouts, and then $12-$15 mill in dead cap space on buyouts for the next 4 years?

Is that real?
Yes lol. The last 4 years the buyout actually costs additional 1.7 million in cap space from what it looks like too.

Edit: may have read a tweet wrong but looked like the cap space had a negative infront of 1.7. Could have just been a hyphen

Suter will probably just sign in Tampa and go get his complementary Stanley Cup.

With all that buyout money guaranteed he could very well sign for league minimum and try and win a Stanley Cup.

While Tampa has cap issues when you replace lost players with a Ryan Suter making $750k it would go a long way to soften the losses.

Cap ramifications from these moves aren't pretty for the Wild, cap penalties for the next 8 seasons:
2021/22 - $4,743,588
2022/23 - $12,743,588
2023/24 - $14,743,588
2024/25 - $14,743,588
2025/26 - $1,666,666
2026/27 - $1,666,666
2027/28 - $1,666,666
2028/29 - $1,666,666

Dubas, you know what to do. Get Parise

Used to love Zach when he was with the Devils. I was so envious of those Devils teams. Finding gems everywhere
Edmonton really Fup not drafing Parise when they could have and passing him on

I remember McGuire absolutely going nuts and giving it to the Oilers for not drafting Parise

It will be fitting though if he goes back to the Devils. Wild jersey to me never looked good on him

Sweet baby jesus that's just some horrific cap management.

Yes they're looking at losing Dumba in the expansion draft if they hold onto Suter, but to impair your cap like that for 4 years is a really restrictive move.

I feel like they could have found a home for him via trade, way more appealing than the dead space.

Hell, even buying out Parise and going

4/4/1 and just suck it up for whoever you lose. Suter is still a *good* defenseman.
