Wow both Ryan Suter and Zach Parise have been bought out

I doubt either would want to come to Toronto but both at 1M or so would be great additions

Probably go to NYR/PIT or some other metro team

Suter despite the Age is better than Muzzin he'd be our 2D and would complete the defense very nicely. Sadly he doesn't play RHD otherwise he'd be a great fit to drop brodie to the 2nd pair

We aren't getting him though.

He'll get a multi year offer from some American team

Suter is still decent. I'm surprised they bought him out too.
Yeah, wasn't he there captain too?

Played 22 minutes a game for them last year, put up 48 points in 69 games 2 years ago. Also a buyout saves them about 5mill in cap this year but only 1.2mill next year and <200K the 2 years after that while adding 4 more years of 800K in dead space after that.

Seems like an odd decision to me, they could have just held onto him for another year and dumped him to a non cap team with only 4 million left on his deal for those last 3 years.

Minnesota is f***ed in 2023-24 & 2024-25. A combined $14,743,588 cap hit in both seasons. They'll basically be a cap floor team. Should just tank for Wright and Bedard.

I feel like Suter goes somewhere like Boston

BUT if he was willing to come here, lose Holl/Rielly, bring in Suter and Hamilton

Muzz-Hamilton
Sandin-Brodie
Suter-Liljegren

2023/24 - $14,743,588
2024/25 - $14,743,588
2025/26 - $1,666,666
2026/27 - $1,666,666
2027/28 - $1,666,666
2028/29 - $1,666,666

Suter is still a top-pairing defenseman.

I don't think he's top pairing anymore, top 4, yes. I went for balance with my pairings.

You could surely go

Muzz-Hamilton
Suter-Brodie
Sandin-Liljegren but how much ice time are these guys gonna get?

Years 2-4 are absolutely insane. Could possibly set the team back a decade

It's a solid lineup. Would LOVE Suter on our blueline.

Forgot about Morgan , unless you have him traded

With Suter now available, I would definitely think at moving Rielly and seeing if you could get Suter on a 3 year deal while also signing Hamilton.

Suter-Hamilton
Muzzin-Brodie
Sandin-Bogosian/Lilijgren

Trade Holl
Trade Dermott

Just don't see Suter signing with a Canadian team.

I'd be interested in both at the right price and someone like Suter could help us gap Rielly if we decided to go that route.

Parise would be nice on our third or even fourth line.

Smart money is on Parise to NYI and Suter staying in the US though
