The Treliving’s and the Tannenbaums are very close, IIRC Brad grew up next door cottage neighbours with them. I’m sure Brad was chosen for reasons unrelated to any of that though, he just had a strong hockey resume of nuking Calgary and bailing instead of fixing his mistakes.
Tie domi has a bit of history with tannebaum i think too .treliving was a ssfe hire more of an extension of shanahan
Im hoping we hear from pelley at some point when he gets done selling the leafs brand to a tine of 3.6 b
I hope ted rogers cleans house and just throw the max at mcdavid

Whenever LarryT has been in power, the Leafs have sucked. Let's hope Rogers majority will fix the rumored meddling that goes back to when Stavro sold.

JFJ touched on it. Players mentioned he is very involved etc. We'll see

Rogers is gonna wield his power .he likes loyalty
The raptors may be different too

They are marching picks out the door, is such an excellent summary.

This is what I hate about the team. Dubas started it. And Tre has still been doing it.

How many picks have we wasted on rentals? Why not just spend them on a piece that actually stays?

Foligno walks for nothing. O Rielly walks.
Schenn etc. could have spent them on an asset that would have been here long term.

Puckpedia has them with 23 millions capspace next season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are on an extended break for the four Nations Face-Off, which means there’s time for our favourite masochistic activity, a Maple Leafs retrospective!

This time we were interested in looking at what happened to all the draft picks the Leafs have dealt away in the Matthews era–starting at the beginning of 2016. For this piece, we’re focusing only on the trades where Toronto actively sent a pick away. In a future piece, we might look at the inverse, all the trades where the Leafs received a pick.

So grab your favourite comfort object and prepare for a long list of trades that led to precisely one playoff series win.

Not too bad, right?

Honestly, while a lot of the picks haven’t turned into much, the misses hurt.

Especially Seth Jarvis. Getting him from a cap dump is an all-time heist from the Hurricanes, and he is a full-blown star at this point.

But other than that, it’s not as bad as I thought. Maybe rentals aren’t so bad.

These attempts always end up a mess as the writer doesn't understand analytics. You can't assume every pick ends up the same, you need to look at a reasonable range of all players available and then an assessment from that. How many players around the Seth Jarvis pick panned out?

It was widely reported that Dubas wanted Jarvis at 15 so it's reasonable to assume he'd pick him at 13. All the picks after Jarvis from 14-19 (except Amirov and Reichel) would be significant contributors on the Leafs right now.

Tanev is worth every penny

I'm sure they will all be worth every penny in the short-term... problem is the longevity and inevitable regression. It's ok to have veterans but going too much into it might be an issue, especially if they are paid a good chunk of change. But a good cup run or two and I guess it's all worth it.

Amirov was also a good pick. With tragic circumstances.

Dubas did get that pick for Marleau back.

McCabe (I was concerned) turned out fantastic.
Muzzin was worth it.

But foligno/o Reilly , the repeated rentals of D with nothing to show has been disastrous

Muzzin was not worth it at all we lost durzi a first and grundstrum for a couple years of muzzin durzi would be our number 1 d so I disagree if we got enough time with muzzin sure but we didn’t and had to make another trade to fill his void so we were better off not making muzzin trade and just making mccabe trade instead

Jake muzzin was a legit top pairing monster. He hit, blocked shots, scored huge goals. The habd even said once they knew muzzin went down they knew they won.

He got injured but that doesn’t make it bad value.

Durzi went to an expansion team for a 2nd round pick. He has no idea where the D zone is. I would like him to run the pp but he is not anywhere near Jake muzzin level

Grundy/bjornfoot were waiver wire fodder.

It was a good trade. We got a top pair d under control on a great deal.

Foligno was a broken third liner.
O Rielly was a 1-4 for a rental who didn’t want to be here.

If o Rielly was signed then it would have been worth it

Muzzin was not worth what we traded for him DUE to the duration in which we had him for

We discussed this signing and accepted it is unlikely to age well.

Perhaps he can play it out as a 7th. d-man in years 4-6

We had him for like 6 years.
He was in the lineup for 22 playoff games and 0 series wins.

He was a great player but he’s retired now and his time in Toronto ultimately ended with 0 playoff series wins.

LA has Alford Freij and Kyle Burroughs to show for the trade so it’s not as if the long-term price was enormous.

What was our playoff record with him vs without him?
