I agree, to get the package I suggested Minten, Cowan and a 1st plus more I'm sure

And that package would be basically only Schenn price with a double retention. You will never get Schenn at 25% and Parayko for this. If its the best leafs can do, they will keep them no doubt about it

I never said the cost would be low but it's the cost of doing business

I feel like it will end up being Brayden Schenn, with St. Louis or a third team retaining some portion of the contract. He just seems like a guy Treliving would go for.

How tough is Brayden? We need a bennet level at least for a Bennett/tkachuck/tkachuk. If reeves can’t play in the playoffs.

Having schenn calming talking to the TBL players when they were running around like he was going to take their heads off was a big part of their win.

I've not seen B. Schenn enough over the years to know whether he is the right choice or not. He just strikes me as the kind of guy Treliving will go for based on his history. He fills a need position-wise, and obviously he has played for, and won with, Berube before. You would have to think that factors into the team's decision-making.

I keep forgetting the Berube factor. It would make sense. I want Bennett based on this game alone. I guess we have reeves for toughness. But I don’t know he will play

That was more of a Dubas move, Tre is very traditional and he hasn't shown the ability to think outside the box as of yet
And that’s exactly my point. Brad was such a quick, safe hire! Like to even have to go to another team to ask for permission.. especially Calgary?? Like wtf are we doing??? We spend by far the most amount of money in the world when it comes to hockey operations and we gotta go to a sponshorship!!!!!!’ For a GM! Who owns Boston Pizza! His dad!

Like we had to go to Calgary to get permission to get a contract from the son of the owner of a sponsorship!!!!! Like I’m sorry but Shanahan has to go.

This dude sits up talks like the talk but acts like weakest link ever! Dude you run the biggest sports conglomerate in the world! MLSE is bigger than the Dodgers and Lakers and this dude is asking for permission to hire Brad Treliving lol

A lot of serious fans will continue to support the team regardless. Perhaps it is the less than serious fans who won't be taken as seriously.
Or maybe there is something seriously wrong with those serious fans. 8 straight seasons of making the playoffs with just 1 series win to show for it, yet no changes made to this core. Trading away draft choices for pure rentals, never having to be accountable for losses, and I could go on! So this was the "Shanaplan", which also included "even though I've never done this before, I am smarter than everybody else" Dubas?

Maybe. You made the last part up though.

Maybe I did, it’s just my opinion, and you are entitled to yours. I can’t prove I’m right, but can you prove that I’m wrong?
You are right.

He made a declaration of NuHockey. He literally said the old ways are done and essentially said he had the new way.

That is pretty much what you said and probable.

I think we will know sooner than later. Hoping the big move is made before the return to play on the 22nd so there is some time to acclimatize like when the got O'Reilly. Closer to the actual TDL they can add crack filler from the clubs that were asking too much and lost their market.

They're no trade who will happen before at least friday

Doesn't make him tough, but shows he'd be the Leafs tough guy.

There was a time when Kovulchuck knocked him out cold with a right punch

The Treliving’s and the Tannenbaums are very close, IIRC Brad grew up next door cottage neighbours with them. I’m sure Brad was chosen for reasons unrelated to any of that though, he just had a strong hockey resume of nuking Calgary and bailing instead of fixing his mistakes.

Depending on what we get at the deadline and whatever we do in the playoffs etc.
I would pass on signing JT and Marner, bring a different element to the team.

Sign Bennett,Ehlers, Gourde and Ekblad, Ruuta, B Tanev

Knies Matthews Nylander
Ehlers Bennett Cowen
McMann Gourde Tanev
Lorentz Minten Steeves(I believe he's an NHLer

McCabe Tanev
OEL Ekblad
Rielly Ruuta

Stolarz
Woll

Rielly at 7.5M on bottom pairing is gross

Doubt we go with such moves but if we let 91 and 16 walk then 44 needs to be forced out for best package available

That’s a really old defensive group. I’d like to see some youth injected throughout our lineup. Wouldn't mind trading Rielly for the best package available and then signing Chychrun.
