What was our playoff record with him vs without him?
I’m not sure - do you know?

I'm sure they will all be worth every penny in the short-term... problem is the longevity and inevitable regression. It's ok to have veterans but going too much into it might be an issue, especially if they are paid a good chunk of change. But a good cup run or two and I guess it's all worth it.

If JT wasn't returning I would say they need to go after him hard but he is only a year and a half younger so no real succession planning there. He will cost somewhere north of $6M and maybe more if the rising cap raises all boats. The last 2 seasons a 65 point pace with 21:00 a night and hard put to threaten 20g so he probably isn't an offensive upgrade unless he squeaks past JT by year 3. Not as good on the FO but he does kill penalties. They need to look at Granlund in the summer if he's there.

If they can keep Mitch from cleaning them out they might be able to bring him in on a Tanev deal where he signs closer to $5M but they add a couple of flushed years at then end of his shelf life. Yes another old guy but he should produce fine the for the next couple or 3 years which is likely the window before they will need to retool. If they only rent a center solution then they might be looking at something like that.
Well since we went to game 3 or 7 every time.
Boston. 3-4
CBJ- 1-0
Montreal- 3-2
Tampa 3-4
Right?
We had him for like 6 years.
My guess if Cozens was the same player he was in 2022-2023 he isn't available.
This is a rhetorical question, but is it time they rebuilt?

This team needs 2 things
#1 a 3C that's obvious we all know that.
#2 is a D man a lot of people will disagree with this but you can't convince me that a defense with both Myers and Timmins on it is good enough It's not.
If you can squeeze a winger in there too great.
But you NEED a center
You NEED a D man
We definitely need a D and C.
We don’t need just any D though. We need a very good one. Ideally a #1 that can push everyone else down into appropriate positions.
A #1 is not available you need to let that go.
But a Conor Murphy would make a BIG difference.
David Savard would make a difference
A?Laughton /Risto package would make a difference.
People HATE Risto and I've always seen a good player on very VERY bad teams.
Time for the Leafs to ask to waive Marner and if he says no. Tell everyone he refused and put it on him akd his image. We need a playoff player back
Do this and be sure nobody else will join leafs anymore. If you treat your own player like shit, when it will be time for any player to choose between one of 32 team in NHL, they will choose the best city and where they will be treat the best way. So Toronto would become the last name on the list on over 90-95% of every NHL player.
You're not in a video game where you can do whatever without any impact anywhere, you're in the real life
Didn't Tampa Bay do it and win like 2 cups with Drouin lol
They had an open disagreement and Tampa hardlined him. Obviously this is similar. Look bottom line no player is going to support the notion of a 13m Marner. He looks like an idiot for askingnot at all. Drouin didn't played good hockey and was young, Tampa just sent him back in AHL to let him find his game back but was not happy.
Look like closer if Knies was struggling pretty hard to start the season ( its not even close to be the case but just an exemple) and leafs would took decision to give him some game with Marlies.
So i don't know how you compare both situation?!?!?!
Tampa did this with McDonagh and they still signed Guentzel. McDonagh even asked Nashville to trade him back to Tampa.Do this and be sure nobody else will join leafs anymore. The team will unlikely be interested in waving Marner. He is too good of a player.Time for the Leafs to ask to waive Marner and if he says no. Tell everyone he refused and put it on him akd his image. We need a playoff player back

1-no just a kid who was playing on a 4th line before been sent in AHL but who see himself higher than what he was, not about how you threat. Hes closer to robertson impact than marner.
2-If he hit the market 100% sure he will get 13 and probably even higher offer.
3-at this moment absolutly nobody outside marner and his agent really know how much he want, everything are just speculation

NYR just did this with Trouba. There hasn’t been a FA cycle since that happened but JT Miller still forced his way there and Borgen re-signed.
Vegas received a lot of public hate for trading Stastny when they did. They’ve turned out just fine.
Pro athletes generally have an ego. They most likely look at these situations and say “that wouldn’t happen to me” even if it’s not true.
I’m not advocating for waiving Marner but shifting the public blame to him should have happened last summer.
They are huge difference between trading someone and making his life the most miserable possible to force him to waive his NMC. If you asking him to waive it and he accept, that's fine but you can't treat him like shit to make it happen and anyway with 2 week away of TDL, would be pratically impossible.
If you doing it
1- You will destroy your own locker room ( basically what NYR did)
2- Toronto is already not a top team on player wish list, he would just be even worst
Why do you feel they don't have 'accountability'?Toronto is only a top destination at this point for players who were born in southern Ontario and even then it’s not like players are taking a discount to come play in Toronto. Would it be a bad thing if Toronto introduced a culture of accountability? That would make it more likely to attract the right players moving forward.
