I would still do it. There is always the need for a big RHD and his upside is quite tantalizing … even if he tops out as a reliable top 4 guy and not a top pair, that price is good for the long term.

Landing him and not giving up one of their top assets in Greb, Knies, Cowan, Danford, Minten would be pretty stellar. There is a need for quality D in the pipeline too.

I agree the fit is awkward especially since the Leafs are competing but there was a big opportunity here too

The fit was very awkward. Jiricek is all about draft pedigree. He barely played in Columbus at the NHL level. Was he going to play over Timmins or Hakanpaa this season? Probably not. But I'm also not as confident in his upside so maybe that doesn't help.

We already have a fairly limited amount of good assets to trade in terms of picks and prospects. So using a lot of it to not even fix the lineup doesn't really make sense. If Jiricek was a center or even a winger, I would have probably been a lot more interested.

Minny obviously liked him enough to trade a lot of futures for him. We'll see if it works out.

How do feel about bringing Jake Walman back to his hometown? He's having a great year in SJ and showing hes a good top 4 dman. He's 28 so he doesn't fit with SJ's rebuild so it makes sense for both teams.
Another left shot dman might as well have kept lily if we’re doing that bad asset management

Seems pretty pointless, especially with a couple bodies coming back from injury. Rather just keep giving guys like Minten, Grebenkin, etc an opportunity.

Injuries slow him down last 2 year but hes a guy who play with a lot of energy and playing and with a great hockey sense.

If hes able to overcome his injury and find his game back, pretty sure everyone here would love him

harvey-pinard on waiver could be an interesting target with all leafs injuries

He's not a big player and I just don't see the Leafs having any interest for what they need. It's probably not worth it at all.

RHP is/was pretty solid, he's just been injured a lot so the Habs are hoping to stash him in the AHL after a lengthy LTIR stay. He's also carrying a cap hit over 1M, so not really great.

The Avs traded a young goalie and a pick for Scott Wedgewood. Surely we can get some kind of pick for Matt Murray at some point
Possibly a late pick from a team that needs goalie depth going into the playoffs. The Avs wern't going to trade anything for a goalie that might not be available past warm ups. They needed a bit of breathing room, even if it's mediocre.
