would giroux come here? His family is from Hearst which is just as close to here. Ottawa is a short trip and if he can play c it might make sense.

Bjugsadt or one of the Philly c makes the most sense probably?

Sens don’t seem to use him at centre, he’s been around Ottawa since junior in Hull. His wife is an Ottawa native and I believe was the impetus for him signing as a FA with them.
Has had a great career but not the #3 200 ft centre the Leafs need. Someone like I don’t know,,, Kadri would be ideal.

Dvorak played a higher offensive role during his carreer ( in trash team for sure, the only placw he could play in a top 6) but honestly i'm not sure if he's really bring something to a contender. Its mrs no savor, mr invisible...

I'm from QC so watch habs game and honestly im not pretty high on dvorak. and i'm not sure if Dvorak would really be an upgrade over Minten actually

If he's our 3C Dvorak would probably have at least one very good winger with him and he's probably going to see a lower QOC since Matthew's and Tavares will get most of the attention

I'm not going to say Dvorak is great but I think he's better than Minten offensively, which is what I think we need

It's also worth noting that the guy Dvorak has had the most chemistry with in his entire career is Mitch Marner.

I'm really liking that McMann Tavares Marner line right now, but if Domi plays with Matthews and Knies it does leave one William Nylander to play with

Imagine Nylander getting 10-13 even strength minutes against lesser competition and getting as many PP minutes as he can handle

I think that could be an extremely productive 20 minutes a night

I know we should be focusing on a third line centre, but Crouse is having an awful start as a member of the Utah hockey club. I wonder if he would be available.

Knies - Matthews - Nylander
Crouse - Tavares - Marner
Pacioretty - Domi - McMann
Lorentz - Kampf - Grebenkin

I think getting a good 3C is going to be harder than people think.
A mediocre 3C could probably get by if he is surrounded by Nylander/Knies.

Then you just have to find a 3rd wheel to play with Matthews/Domi. I brought up Giruoux in past posts because I think the only team he would potentially move to would be Toronto because of location (close to home) and he has a NMC, so I don't think Ottawa can ask for the moon. I would then put Giroux with Matthews/Domi.

I think the Leafs should look at fit instead of just targeting the best available C. We need someone fast that can keep up with Nylander.

Even Kerfoot looked good with Nylander in the playoffs.

I have Kerfoot as a mediocre C who could fit between Nylander/Knies.
Bjugstad is probably going for a ransom.

Maybe in regular season but i'm not that sure come playoff time when you don't have space anymore than he can really producing anything...

Given our injuries up front - and Domi/Mcmann aren't as back as soon we think.

I wouldn't be opposed to swapping a fringe d for a fringe forward.

Like Rifai for Aman

Nelson>Bjugstad>Gourde>Evans

That should be our pecking order.

I don't love Bjugstad. He's big but slow and struggles in a lot of systems. He was awful in Pittsburgh as well as Edmonton. If we add someone it should be all in or nothing for that 3c role.

Nelson or Backlund for me

Marchment with 2 goals last night…..

Thank goodness we got rid of that goof.

Who needs a guy like him or McCann for LW?

Thanks Kyle. :)

McMann doesn't seem that far off, but will probably get the week to fully recover. Domi wasn't on the trip but doesn't seem like he'll be out long-term. Pacioretty should also be ready soon (Dec 7th for LTIR timeline) but who knows.

I'd be careful doing a band-aid move. Just hold the fort and look at upgrading the lineup. Leafs are 2 injuries away on defense from using Rifai. With that said, Aman would be a good target if you want to upgrade your forward depth.

The Preds have acquired goaltender Justus Annunen and a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for goaltender Scott Wedgewood.

I don't mind this for the Preds. They get a younger goaltender and a pick for a 32 year old journeyman goaltender that's pretty average. With that said, such a weird thing for them to sign Wedgewood, end up trading Askarov because of it, and then dump Wedgewood a few months later for another goaltender anyway...

Not sure why the Avs decided to do this either. Seems like a marginal upgrade at best for a much older player.

He's like the Cody Franson of forwards. On paper you think he'd translate to a very impactful player, but it just ends up looking like a journeyman who fits in on non playoff teams.

That said, we need to clear out a lot of really rice cracker boring players in the bottom 6 as well. We have too many guys who just eat up clock time and have zero game impact.

Meh, we already have a ton of forward depth, we need impact or fit rather than just another dude
