You would have to full court press woo the hell out of Keith Tkachuk and family with Treliving (good relations with Matthew) and Berube (Blues credibility) plus Shanahan (contemporary of Tkachuk, ex-Blues icon). Bit of a long shot but Brady Tkachuk would definitely re-energize this build.
I would do cart wheels if Brady came here. That kind of heart and soul WITH skill is a short list. Usually you need to pick between skill or grind

Domi came off an even better season last year scoring 20 goals and a pretty good playoffs. He only managed to sign a 1-year $3 mill AAV contract. He scored 9 goals with the Leafs and now the Leafs should pay him $4.5 mill AAV for term?? That doesn’t make any sense.

I’m not saying he won’t get that contract but I hate how he’s worth more now just because he played for the Leafs.

I liked Domi at $3 mill AAV. I know I’m going to hate Domi at $4.5+ mill AAV for term. The expectations are different.
This. I’d go higher than 3 mil, but definitely not into the 4 mil range, 3 mil times 4 year term is the midfle ground where player snd team can happily coexist imo…….

I bet he'd fit in the trunk fam
Come on, Gods don’t ride in trunks……

Lol. No way we get B. Tkachuk. Ottawa would never trade him, especially to the Leafs. And for what? No way Marner would waive to go to Ottawa lol.

Yep. I've seen way too many trade proposals with Marner going to Ottawa, Columbus, Calgary, Buffalo, Utah, etc. I really see no reason at all to expect Marner to waive for those destinations.

Ottawa would give Mitch 12M per for him to stay. Mitch only has to move a few hours east. Tkachuk is going to walk in 4 years, if Mitch re-signs he will be there for 9 years.

9 years of a 90-100 point player that will almost certainly bring them to the playoffs on a yearly basis. Tkachuk should help the Leafs advance in the playoffs, Marner will bring the Senators to the playoffs. It is a win/win. The term favours Ottawa.

Liljegren for Cates

Cates appears to have fallen out of favor with the Flyers but his underlying numbers remain elite. He went from being listed at 6'2 165 lbs in 22-23 to 194 lbs in 23-24. He saw a significant decrease in ice time and offensive production this season. He was moved out to the wing for most of the season after playing C in his rookie year. He was 4th in ES defense WAR this season amongst centers behind Barkov, Drury and Dickinson. Unlike the Leafs defensive centers of the past, there appears to be some offense here:

Philly have a hole at 2/3RD, both players are the same age/draft.

Doubt Sens also would be interested in paying him $100m. I know I wouldn't.

Why would he waive for any destination when he's living his dream?

I completely agree with you. Also, if you are Ottawa management and want to lessen the rage of Ottawa fans from losing Tkachuk, Marner would be your best bet. My Ottawa friends love Marner. Win/win.

That Lindholm one seems high and the Monahan one a lil low.
Lindholm with the offensive dip, Monahan with the healthy year.

We shall see on Lindholm. He's the top UFA C this year... on merit he deserves less, supply and demand might see him get there.

Monahan is an interesting one. How much do you pay a guy, who really has become a 3C, and power play specialist? No physicality to his game.... From a Leafs perspective, I look at it and wonder... what would we pay him... and then I think, he's just not a player that moves the needle for me at all. 1 point in the playoffs.... I mean, if he can come in at a 3C price, then he's got some value... but someone will pay him more, hoping for more. I think his final contract won't be much higher... maybe $3.5 if someone really likes him. I think $3 mil is entirely fair.

I tried to play around on cap friendly as an exercise if we did run it back and to only resign: Domi, Robertson, Lilly, DeWar, Lyubushkin and the team is just painfully "fine".

There is some cap for a UFA defenseman or goalie but it's nothing inspiring and a very meh looking crew with not a ton of identity
Do the same with trading janrok and kampf
Lots of space to make an impact

Tre better trade and not sign our Huberdeau.

Maybe leafs Huberdeau is already signed...I know some will hate this but without all freedom keefe gave up to their player and with a coach with a north/south system... that can change a lot of thing and not all necessairly for the best

Personally i think they're a risk than Berube becoming Nylander kryptonite. Maybe we will start to see a little bit more the nylander of Babcock era and less the nylander of last 3-4 years under keefe era. No body know. Thing can change pretty quickly and we just don't have any kind of idea than ehat's will happen in 1-2-3 years...

Agreed not sure whether Nylander and Berube will mesh. Personally I'd love to move both 16 and 88 but nobody is taking that Nylander contract, let alone giving you much back now.

Edmondson currently makes $3.5mm, I doubt he takes that large of a cut on salary.
Lyubushkin is coming off $2.75mm. I don't see a reduction in his future.

Based on what exactly?

Nylander is kind of player pretty inconsistent with the level of commitment in his game and who played with liberty under Keefe. I don't think Berube will accept and close his eyes as much than Keefe every shift Nylander taking off defensively or in the forecheck

So that can maybe help nylander to reach an other gear and be his kryptonite. I heard a lot of comparaison between huberdeau and marner but sorry the way huberdeau had been playing, thats make no sense at all. Nylander is closer to huberdeau type of player than marner..

Who knows, but a couple players score more and a couple rely on others to score.

Huberdea - 831 games :
Assists: 495
Goals: 225

Nylander - 603 games:
Assists: 311
Goals: 217

marner - 576 games
Assists: 445
Goals: 194

Matthews - 562 games
Assists: 281
Goals: 368
