I looked at New Jersey on capfriendly, they actually might be a viable landing spot for Kampf, they could use a 4th line centre.

Is everyone forgetting how useless Bertuzzi was for the majority of the season and how his "playoff style" did absolutely nothing for the team?

I want Domi back and don't mind a raise for him, but if Bertuzzi comes back, I hope it is at 3-4 million absolutely tops, and I know he won't take that.
I would like to believe that if he plays with the right linemates, as he did later in the season, that he will be that player for us moving forward.

I would take him back at the same AAV.

Sean Walker, another decent RD, also on this list projected at 4.8M AAV.
It feels like he's going to go under the radar with all the top names out there on D, he's a good candidate to go after

Looking at the projections, I'd be fine with the following:

Pesce: 5 years x 6.4 million
Walker: 5 years x 5 million
Liljergen: 2 years x 2.5 million

Rielly - Pesce
McCabe - Walker
Benoit - Liljergen

Good blend of physicality and mobility on the backend

I actually like Lilly but he’s not getting $4mill here.

I can actually see most of these guys easily getting more than this but Roy, Tanev, Lindholm, and Brossoit on those contracts would be sweet.
The Lili projection is buying two FA years.
At 4, it’s a tough call. Might be best to stick to one year given his injury this season.

Chicago traded a 2nd round pick to move up 2 spots in the mid 1st round and 4 spots in the 2nd. Why would they do that?
Dumb eh?
Timing and value both make little sense to me.

I can't see Lindholm happening without a core guy leaving. If he doesn't get a term deal he's still likely going to get 7+ mil.

Not much room to sign that if they want to bring back even 1 of Domi/Bert + a few new D

I used some of Seravelli's contract projections...even added another 250k on Lindholm...rip away.

Not sure on goaltending or how solid it is

Not sure Robertson would stay

Lots of picks coming back for a team in "win now" mode.

Rather have Roy, he could be a asset at centre…….

I think you're better off going after Monahan or Wennberg, I think both get less term and AAV and can be the 2nd line center if you want to put JT on the 3rd line

Styles should be consideted as 2nd centre, get Roy for third line C and Jt fir fourth line, easily the best muddle in the NHL…….

I'd go after somebody like Talbot as the backup, he can take a starters workload if Woll can't stay fit

I'd also like to think if we trade Marner we can fill at least one of our holes cost effectively with that trade return

Talbot was my #2 choice but I could see him signing for 1 year 1.5M - 500k raise on his previous deal.

I think Theodore does provide offense which we need and primarily is RD so it does fill a hole although he's a pending UFA and is likely going to want at least Rielly money which will likely force us to jettison Rielly maybe a year later.

Honestly, there isn't a lot of cap space when you look at it, especially since they're keeping Kampf/Reaves for some reason

Upgrading the defense will take most of it. I guess next summer with JT's money off is when you can focus up front

Yeah if they don't and/or can't trade Marner they aren't doing anything significant this offseason. They won't have the room.

After that, we will see if Treliving is an actual GM with a backbone or just a figurehead.

Shanny bet on the three wrong horses and it would be insanity to continue betting on them. If one of them brought what Matthew Tkachuk brings, maybe you have a chance. That MoFo shines under the bright lights. None of them have demonstrated they are capable of dragging their teammates into the fight. Close your eyes and imagine what the Panthers would have done to them last night in round #3. The time to move on is long overdue.
How did Tkachuk do in Calgary though? Trust me, looking at it right now I’d take him over our guys but he was shit in Calgary. Didn’t show anything. Sometimes it just takes time. It’s amazing what a good defence and goaltending can do to a player.

I don't think our defense really let us down this playoff series.

1. PP/PK (special teams) was awful
2. Scoring was awful - 2 goals a game? 44M for 4 forwards should get more
3. Backbreaking goaltending at times.

I'd be trying to get somebody young with long term cheap team control

If we get a Saros or Theodore as the main piece we're going to be in cap hell as soon as next season again, if we're trading Marner i want to solve that problem long term

Any other ideas?

I've thought about Kempe and Danault

Parayko and Buchnevich (retained) but unlikely Buchnevich stays long term.

Need to find useful guys now, Korczak is someone I seriously think can be a top 4 RD sooner rather than later.

LA ain't trading Kempe or Danault.

Buch might be get able because he's a UFA soon

Why?

They aren't buying out Dubois so that leaves them with Kopitar, Dubois and Lizotte at centre, they might need to find a 3rd line centre in this scenario.

Kempe wasn't even a pt/game, this isn't some insane trade idea here even though their primary focus probably is at goaltending.

Fiala will the main piece heading our way with a trade with MM. Ofcourse Kings will need to add more.
