If I'm AA, I'm negotiating with his agent right now and telling him I want him to be the highest paid starter in the league and that I want him to retire a blue jay.

$32M come off the books from Dickey and Buehrle alone. The rest of the guys coming off will be able to cover the raises to our other salary escalating and arb eligible guys. We should have about $32-$35M to work with for Price. Can't see than not getting him to stay unless he hates the city.

It's going to come down to term. Can they afford the annual cost? Yes. Will they give him 8 years though?

If the Jays don't budge on their 5 year rule, or only wiggle up to 6, he's gone. Somebody will give him 8+ years.

Graveman was a punt. Boyd still got like a 100-125K bonus. He was Oregon's ace.

But it does show how great the Jays scouting and development is. Graveman magically finds a cutter? Boyd suddenly can hit 93-95?
