Hutch would probably go to the pen before Estrada. Estrada has been quite good this season and 1/2 the time hutch hasn't.

True - my rationale for the proposal is basically that it gives us one extra game from price every 20 games haha.

I would rather use and abuse Price every 4th day while giving everyone else regular test.

Since he'd going to likely end up on the Dodgers. Who cares about taxing him

If Stroman comes back he ain't coming here to pitch an inning or two every couple of games. He has the advantage of having pretty much the freshest arm of any top-end pitcher in the league. If he here, they are going to work him hard.

Or, on the flip side, he has all the drawbacks of a guy that hasn't pitched meaningful and lengthy baseball outings since last September and won't be fully stretched out and ready as soon as he comes back. Relief innings are a better way to manage his workload.

That's not necessarily a good thing. It takes a long time to build up 7-9 inning endurance.

It would be interesting to see if they used him in relief.

Definitely some bad luck, but for the most part (until today at least) they are a team built around power hitting and poor pitching.

The bats can go cold fast. Score 7+ for a week and then go a couple games scoring 1-2 runs. Baseball is still a game of failures, even for the best hitters.

Earlier in the season they had the largest standard deviation in runs per game and they probably still do. Score 12 one day and get shut out the next. Power hitting is streaky that way.

Ummm... absolute/gross standard deviation highly correlates with runs per game in this case. Basically, the streakier, the better.
