when wins are the currancy you look at WAR. You'll be lucky to get 2 WAR out of Price for the rest of the year, look at the post immediately below yours to see what a #5 guys brings.

Absolutely a Price is more valuable this year. That's why I said 1 of 3 things have to happen, win now(world series), re-sign price, or Norris not becomes a starter of any level.

If we don't win the world series, and price walks then even a #5 is more valuable when you're looking at 6 years versus 2 months we had of Price.

I generally agree with what you said, but Price has the potential to be worth probably closer to 4ish WAR to the Jays this year since that #5 spot was downright awful since Sanchez was injured.

That's still very catchable for 3 lefty pitching prospects with potential over 6 years of control though.

If the Jays don't at least go to the ALCS or preferably a WS appearance and he walks this trade can't be looked at as anything but a bust. A one game WC or 5 game ALDS series isn't good enough.

Has anyone here considered the financial ramifications should the Jays make the playoffs and win a round or two? Don't you think it's feasible the ownership took that into consideration when going all-in this trade deadline?

I don't know the numbers myself, but it's something that's been on my mind as a possible stimulus.

Players around the league are looking at this right now and wondering how they can be a part of this.

Even if Price doesn't stay the offseason should be fun.

I really feel like there is a decent chance to resign him IF the org is willing to commit to money and term. Meaning, his willingness to play in Toronto long term is there.

Just getting into the first round (win wildcard or winning the east) is enough to bring back Price financially IMO.

I love having Price here, but i don't think he's gonna be here for the long haul.

He has a LOT of connections in the Cubs organization. They also happen to have a boatload of money to get a guy to put alongside Lester.

But hey, maybe he falls in love with playing in Toronto and i'm proven wrong. I'd be alright with that.

Yes, I agree. In my mind he'll be either a Cub or a Dodger come the opening night of the next season.

Some people are talking about Stroman coming back to the rotation. If he comes back he'll be in the pen.

Normally, yes. In this specific case, maybe not. Stroman didn't hurt an elbow or shoulder, he hurt his knee. I don't think starting him comes with much risk. ACL surgery/recovery has come a long way in the last few years. Maybe start him in the pen as the long man and give him a few starts to finish the regular season.

I agree, it would dramatically impact their attendance numbers next year to get playoff baseball back in Toronto.

What is the highest figure that the Jays can pay and still realistically recieve positive value from the deal, assuming that every WAR Price produces for the next 3 years has leveraged value?

As far as him starting concerned, i think you sit him until the Twins series.

Win against KC = 0.5 game made up

Win against Minny = 1.0 game made up.

That Twins series could very well be the season as crazy is that is. Four game set, huge implications for the wild card.

No it's not. I don't think the Yankees will stay up top. Do people really think that the division is already a lock to go to the Yankees?

Gang, you got a class act and one hell of a pitcher. Take it from a Tampa fan, you added at least 8 wins in the regular season and a lot more in the playoffs. Let's hope it's the Rays and Jays in and the Yankees at home.

FWIW, he's great with kids and youngsters too. You're really going to appreciate him as a fan, A LOT.

Not the biggest baseball fan but this gets me excited to see some playoff baseball.

Sounds impressive
