The concern with this deal is the rental aspect. Jays give up the future for Price and he walks at the end of the year.
It's the most obvious risk.
Just wondering, anybody have examples of these kinds of deals that really blew up in the faces of the rental team? (And I don't count deals where the prospects became really good and the team getting the rental won the World Series or came close)
I've been thinking about it the last hour or so and have only come up with two, both involving the Expos.
Way back when they gave up a package of players to get Mark Langston. One of the young pitchers was Randy Johnson. Years later the Expos acquired Bartolo Colon for a package of players that included Grady Sizemore (and someone else that turned out really good that is eluding memory).
Any other examples?
