I preferred Tanev to Brodie at the time both were UFAs, Tanev would be perfect alongside Rielly.
He was clearly the better fit but he was injury prone in Vancouver. He's been much healthier in Calgary.I preferred Tanev to Brodie at the time both were UFAs, Tanev would be perfect alongside Rielly.
not really. It was more that the board of directors was looking in a different direction than Tre. The only thing that has been said is they are hesitant to deal with him due to his insider knowledge of the organization.Rumour had it that Treliving left on bad terms and Calgary’s owner has no interest in dealing with him.
I was thinking the same, give Willy a chance at a cup and the experience that comes with it. The rub is whoever would make that trade would be a cup contender and what if they win the cup, would 88 want to return to Toronto? I think not………
Though I rather they didn’t trade robertsonSome have already mentioned him here but I'd take a look at Bear.
I'd also be interested in taking a look at Puljujarvi if Robertson is dealt as part of a deal to bring in a D-man. Puljujarvi might be good beside Kampf similar to the way that Engvall was and maybe you bump up Gregor to play with Domi and Jarnkrok.
It was, they should've gone for him then.Wasn’t Rielly - Tanev a pairing at the World Cup and pretty dominant?
I'd like to keep him as well but if he's the piece you have to include to make a deal for a D-man that they can keep beyond this year, you'd have to consider moving him.Though I rather they didn’t trade robertson
Brodie is getting worse and worse and needs to be replaced in the top 4. So if you can root out all his money, in conjunction with getting a top pair guy it would be an upgrade from the very top. That's kind of a separate thing than Tanev, whom we would have money for from the Klingberg LTIR.
I think this is the realistic option for this year, extend both of them and chase a bigger fish 2nd pair guy in offseason when you have cap.Seeler and Tanev. That’s who we should target.
Both have produced tremendous defensive roles in the minutes they’ve played. For Tanev, that’s the second pair, for Seeler that’s the third pair.
You've got to give to get, and even then, D tends to be more valuable if the age and talent are similar.Though I rather they didn’t trade robertson
I’d rather trade kampf
He is lost on this team
For a player who is described as a defensive specialist
He looked like shit on Seattle’s second goal . Made a half assed effort on it.
He has no place right now on our team.
Brodie is not still our best defensive defencemen not even close rielly is head and shoulders above Brodie he should not be anywhere near your top pairBrodue is still our best defensive defenseman who's currently playing with Rielly who's having arguably the best season of his career
Now we have the assets for two top pair guys? Seems reasonable

Are you watching any of the games or just the highlights ?? Mean no disrespect by it either just curious as why you think that?Laugh all you wish @arso40 but this isn’t even remotely considered a controversial opinion.
They have been true but it’s definitely false nowLaugh all you wish @arso40 but this isn’t even remotely considered a controversial opinion. Brodie has been for years and still is the best defensive defenseman on this club. That doesn’t mean we should want a top D to push him down, but it is the reality

And in my opinion they need to trade him as well yo can see the decline much rather a tanev and a different look to the top 4 he has been good over the course for sure but last years playoffs til now he looks real off and it’s a longer sample size then a lil bit eye test never liesLaugh all you wish @arso40 but this isn’t even remotely considered a controversial opinion. Can agree there but 44 been the best d on both ends of the ice my friend im sure even the advanced metrics probably bac the eye testYou may not mean it disrespectfully but is generally a pretty cheap discussion tactic to imply that because we don’t agree I’m not watching the games.
I watch every game for the record. Brodie hasn’t been perfect by any means, but best defensive defenseman on our team this year is a fairly low bar.
