Well if you said this originally sure, but your post seemed to indicate Habs did something so good Dubas has to respond. If the Jets did it then yeah I would agree. Staal isn't a needle mover. We'll see what Kyle has in store.

Who is our 2 c if one of Matthews or Tavares get hurt? Nylander. He isn’t perfect in that roll but he is better than Staal. Hell I think I trust Spezza in that roll more than Staal right now.
And that is before we make any trades ourselves. Granlund who we have been attached to is probably better than Staal at this point.

Nice depth add for Montreal especially incase of an injury but not too big of an add.

Hopefully it creates some movement now. That would be about the only thing from this trade that moves the needle.

No but I don’t want to do it with Staal either. Given the choice between Nylander or Staal I choose Nylander. Or Speeza, or Granlund. Or several other names we could acquire before the deadline.
