Ghostbear, Provarov, Morin, Myers and Sanheim were all gonna be top pair guys if you listened to Flyers fans on this board a couple years ago.

They consistently manage to underperform relative to hype more than anyone over the past decade, save maybe Buffalo. It's not a coaching issue either, in the last decade they've had Laviolette, Berube and Vigneault, who've been to six finals, winning twice in the past 15 years. Hakstol sucked, but they can't all be winners. Their core simply wasn't good enough and they created an insurmountable age gap when they kept Pronger and trade Richards & Carter.

I'm definitely interested Laughton though. Local kid who plays a more traditional 3C role, physical, PKs, can move up and down the lineup. Could probably re-sign him to a fair deal if Seattle takes Kerfoot.

My thoughts are that trading for Bobby Ryan so that you can bench Thornton and Galch is insane, and that I like Iaffalo but that price tag is pretty intense.

I think Ryan can still play. I've watched about 10-12 games of him this year. Watching Detroit is painful, but I'm a junkie. Ryan has 14 points (7 goals and 7 assists) in 31GP this year, meaning he's still close to a .50 PPG player, getting paid nothing. He also plays on a horrendous Detroit team. I'd be willing to bet that he'd have 18-20 points already this season playing beside Matthews and Marner. He's not prime Ryan, but he still has top 6 scoring touch, is still a quality powerplay guy and adds instant offense for cheap.

Alex Iafallo has 21 points in 31 games played. I don't think that's a heavy price to pay at all. I think a 2nd and a 3rd is about market value. He's a legitimately good, two way player.

For the record Ryan would be Toronto's 10th leading scorer right now, while Iafallo would be their 6th (tied with Zack Hyman).

I don't think a 2nd, 3rd and depth prospect / pick would be breaking the bank at all for those additions.

Any interest in acquiring Scott Laughton from the flyers? Good versatile player, plays hard, can line up at center or wing. He’s a member the golf club where I work and he’s always really nice to the staff.

i'd like any of these guys on the Leafs

Well, not Morin. Not because he didn't have potential, but he's perpetually injured. 23 games over the last three seasons he's played... the rest out with injury.

I happily add him to the roster. I debated someone the other day but Laughton at 50% retained for a 1st would be pretty nice, if the cost is less, even better but yes. He would bring more than Granlund to the group. Plays chippy play off style hockey.

If there was one player I would love to get from the Flyers its Michael Raffl. He is a Hyman type player that is a strong skater, throws the body, and generates puck possession for offence which is how the Leafs play.

He can penalty kill and would be the perfect addition to the Leafs. His contract expires at end of season, and is a good player to try and resign at low cost next off season as hes only making 1.4 million this season and doesnt warrant much of a raise.

This type of player would help the Leafs.

Raffl has been awful this year. Borderline unplayable awful. If he wasn't so expensive he'd be a decent 4th line option, but he is expensive and we don't need 4th line wingers.

Yes. Both he and Alex Iafallo are near the top of my list of mid 6 forwards that I'd like to add that I think can be had for less than a 1st round pick.

Rakell, Palmieri and Forsberg would be at the top of my list, but the cost would be considerable.

Iafallo and Laughton are at the top of group B for me, ahead of Michael Granlund, largely because they bring some extra size and they're both playing better than Granlund, frankly.

I also think a player like Laughton is one Toronto could reasonably negotiate with in the off season and try to extend, should / when they move on from Kerfoot. Laughton around 2.75-3.0 x 3-4 is a nice piece, at 26.

Good deal for the Habs. I would have done that if I was Dubas, but maybe he's got something better cooked up.
