One "stickied" prospects thread with a whopping 38 pages since April. Yea, that's what this forum is all about.

If it's news to you that the Toronto Maple Leafs have a lot of passionate fans, you must be living under a rock. That wouldn't be all that surprising, though.

Second personal insult from you Chief without adding to the topic.
Do you believe the main focus of this forum is actually “hockey’s future” ? If so, I’d be interested to hear why you think so.

You mean the inference that he'd be worth a first because he's outperforming dudes when they get sent down for short stints no I completely understood.

We're once again on the Robertson overhype train ( partially because the knies hype train got derailed a bit)
Knies will will still likely develop into a second line winger possibly with pp1 time. That hasn't changed. He had a good tournament this summer.

No - I believe the main focus of the forum is talking about hockey. I just find it odd that you (one of the few people that pays to use this website) is surprised that a Leafs prospect thread that was started before the draft and ran through an international tournament that three Leafs prospects played in would have posts in it.

God forbid people talk about the prospects of the team they enjoy watching.

Wow, did you miss the point.

I was told in no uncertain terms in the Knies thread that Leaf fans do not overhype their prospects. :D

Well every fanbase is guilty of this, so I wouldn’t say it being true is overly relevent.

In any case, I actually don’t think that Knies is particularly overhyped. He’s hyped, because he’s a good prospect, with top 6 upside and plays a style and position the current Leafs could use.

Patrick Kane at 50 percent plus another 50 retention from Arizona for a 2nd round. Chicago gets 1st round pick, Kerfoot, Sandin, Robertson

Nylander Matthews Kane
Bunting Tavares Marner
Engvall Kampf Jarnkrok
Simmonds Gaudette Aube Kubel
Clifford

Muzzin Brodie
Rielly Lilly
Giordano Holl(would be nice to find a replacement)

Murray
Samsonov

Nylander Matthews Kane, so who goes into the corner to get the puck? Matthews your 60-goal scorer or Kane the highly skilled, less prone to physical play, or lol Nylander? lol

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly is optimistic the salary cap can get a significant boost after the 2023-24 season -- a year ahead of earlier forecasts from the league.

"I’ve seen some preliminary estimates recently which would make me more optimistic on the cap gong up sooner whether that’s in two seasons or three seasons, I think it’s more likely than not two seasons rather than three," Daly said in an interview with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek from European Media Day on Wednesday.

Daly said revenue projections for the 2022-23 season are "very solid" -- meaning the cap bump could come ahead of schedule.

In March, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said he anticipates the cap to increase by more than $1 million after the escrow is repaid, which was projected to be after the 2024-25 season.

The cap is rising $1 million to $82.5 million for the 2022-23 season.

The cap ceiling rose every season from 2013-14 until the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 campaign.

On the other side

Those 3 + Marner + Rielly/JT could runa 70% historical PP and win us our first series since 2004 all off special teams

We lost to the Bruins in 2019 with them running at 55% I think vs us. The leafs PP with Kane is amongst the greatest ever and simply unstoppable

You’ve got that option, to stack one PP, and you’d also have the option to have two very good PP units. It could be beneficial to rotate units, stacked one time, split the next, to ensure teams we play are off balance and can’t just focus on one unit. They won’t necessarily know what will be thrown at them, less predictability.

Thats exactly why hes overhyped and overrated, yes he a really good prospect and his style fit perfectly to what leafs need right now... but hes at least 1 and probably 2 year away of being NHL ready and will probably be on a depht role to begin but people think he can already playing a top 6 role with succes.

Personally i rank knies at #3 amount leafs prospect right now but can change if he can do what he did tournament to reach frozen four + frozen four tournament.

It probably would be amazing. The issue is that as soon as our PP is that good...the refs will try to even it out for the other team by not calling any PP for us. You know...in fairness.

Which idiot defender threw the puck into the corner because it wouldn't have been Nylander, Matthews or Kane who would have carried it into the zone and completed an effective transfer of ownership.

To me, all this means is that Matthews, Marner, and Nylander will just ask for more money than they would if the cap were staying flat.

As long as we keep the 3, we will remain cap-strapped.

I'm not advocating getting rid of anyone, just stating a fact. All 3 players will go for the maximum they can get. I don't believe any of them will take anything "team friendly", and I'm not saying it's expected of them to. It would be nice if they did, is all.....

I'm hoping they'd look at what Rielly did in his contract, and recognize how much Dubas capitulated to all 3 of them in their first RFA deals. An extra $1-$1.5m per contract affected Dubas' ability to upgrade the surrounding cast and the D, but I'm not going on the premise any of that will happen this time around.

Of the 3, I think Matthews will be the most straight-forward, Marner will be the biggest d*ck, and Nylander somewhere in between (ease to re-sign, not $$$ amount).
