I wonder who the "bigger idiot" is? the one that makes ECF twice in a row and wins GM of the year twice in a row

OR

the one that blows hard in the media, thinks he is better/smarter than everyone and still can't get out of first round meanwhile adding further feathers to his loser cap: zamboni driver, montreal colors on CN tower, work in progress goalies trades, etc.....

Hmmmm.....
I’m of the opinion that neither of them have done a very good job. Dubas has failed to win a playoff round and the team is as good as they are mostly because of assets he inherited. Lou got lucky to do as well as he has on the island. When you look up and down their roster and depth chart it’s pretty underwhelming and lacks elite talent.

I think Lou did well. He brought in a coach that had winning pedigree (Trotz); then brought in players that played Trotz's system. After two ECFs and then a failed season he let Trotz go.

NYI was one shot away from making the cup finals the 2nd time around. Lou is not some genius I agree but IMO he is definitely better than Dubas.

If in your opinoin, Lou did what he did with the lackluster roster; imagine what Lou could have done with the Leafs when Matthews, Marner, Nylander are in their prime

Some people can’t recognise the fact that dubas is in over his head

Nylander 7 years on the team
Matthews 6 years
Marner 6 years
Tavares 4 years
And we still can’t get out of the first round

You can’t have a too heavy top four and then add everyone on a min deal

No success in the way he has tried to put the team together

His ego is his biggest problem. Can’t admit when he is wrong because he thinks he is always the smartest guy in the room

Do you get your name on the cup for having a good regular season.

I hope the Leafs can at least get a pick for Holl.

I wouldn't be shocked if they need to put him on waivers.
Leafs will keep Holl rather than lose him on waivers. Leafs are not in a desperate scenario here. At worst Sandin is without a contract to start the season and thats fine. They don't really need him since they have 6 capable D

The day "We can and We Will" was trending I got a little scared

The days when contracts of Nylander and especially of Matthews and Marner were announced I got disheartened every passing announcement

The day when Keefe talked about "respect in handshake line" and then following that the conference by Shnahan/Dubas as if the Leafs lost in the SCF Game 7 OT..... and dubas supporters in here talking like he is the second coming of einstein

I lost all feeling......

Moving muzzin = two trades regarding a replacement

I dont think it is realistic to trade muzzin for a younger muzzin (who would be cheaper)

Mirtle has also said the front office has no plans to trade him at the moment too. Which makes sense given the issues it may cause

Yeah I don’t think Muzzin gets moved this year. Hopefully he can stay healthy and play like a top four defenceman like he can be.

They need Holl to ice an NHL team

He better work on his impromtu stopping at the beginning of periods

I kid i kid
I don’t think they expect a tough opponent in round one and they’ll just skate their way to a series win. IMO, this management group is set on is winning one round, and on paper, that’s dangerous.

In order to win a round, Muzzin is crucial. He was by far their best D playoffs and they can’t meet their goal if he’s not sound.
Agree in his role/style being critical

I don’t think they expect a tough opponent in round one and they’ll skate by and all this management group is set on is winning a round. On paper it’s going to be tough for this group.

I have strong reservations about several areas of this lineup.

He was their most used D against TB and they almost won that round . They added nothing on D so the hope is he can stay healthy enough to get them through at last one round. I dont think it’s reasonable to expect him to lead them beyond that.

Edmonton re-signs Yamamoto.

Don't really have any cap room left unless they do not run with any extras, so they will likely need to dump salary.

When Sandin signs they are officially in a desperate scenario

Im sure management has reservations, but their goal is to win at least one round.
Not disagreeing but how ironic IF the true goal behind closed doors is to win one round

Completely opposite of everything thats been fed out to the people. If they have waivered on the process and building a team that can win hockey games and winning one round creeps over that 50% of importance they are already f***ed

He had them on their ELC's and wasted it by spending picks on 4th line centers, drafting horribly, not getting picks for expiring UFA's when we clearly weren't ready to contend, and then signing guys like Zaitsev and Marleau to ridiculous deals.

what on earth makes you think he'd handle their prime years better?

Did he waste the young stars' ELCs or fail to move expiring UFAs for draft picks? You can't choose both.
