I never had Kerfoot on the market because we needed the forward depth....

....but the play of Holmberg, Malgin, Steeves, Robertson, McCann so far is making me think we might actually be able to move Kerf now without hurting ourselves.
I like most of those guys too but I don't think they would last a week doing what Kerfoot does for us when teams start their everyday rosters. At least not yet.

Mikheyev potentially has a torn ACL for Van

He was never going to live up to the 4.75M contract but now he likely sees a reduction in his skating strength and speed reducing his overall effectiveness

Sucks for him and hope he recovers well over the next 8-12 months. He's making good money so doesn't have to worry financially at the minimum

looking like he's suffered from being raised on the same soviet nutrition as Antropov was.

It's not like these guys don't have anything else on their resumes.
Some people dont realize ex games to veteran players mean nothing, they are hardly trying, the only people trying are rookies for both sides and 98% of them wont make an nhl roster.

He's fine, and will be back on the ice in the next day or so.

If Giordano isn't trying, he's the favourite to win the Norris trophy then.

Can we still sign ZAR with the Sanding contract now in place?

Sorry, I'm really out of the loop at the moment

a ZAR contract doesn't effect the cap at all. it would just be him replacing a different contract.

but it sure seems like we have to trade someone to get under the cap. regardless of whether ZAR is signed.

Thinking I’ve got a better chance of flapping my arms real fast and flying to the moon than ever seeing Dubas ever go out and get a legit RHD for this team.

All he does is band aids and it is and has been such a glaring area of need forever.

Is he expecting it to be filled internally? It just seems so odd after all this time it remains a glare area, and we continue to address it in inadequate ways, from trying to plug Holl, to moving LHD to fill it.

If Leafs send down 3 players, sign ZAR to min contract, trade kerfoot and holl for picks, leafs would still be about $300K in the red.

So perhaps something like 1st, robertson, niemala for Chyhrun (retain $300K). Whatever proceeds you get from the kerfoot, holl trade you can add towards this trade i suppose, although I would like a heavier retention.

Do you guys get the feeling that Kerfoot getting an 'A', medias/MGT starts talking about Kerfoot being a leader. Kerfoot playing C in pre-season....are signs that Leafs is shopping him around the league.

No. I think they are truly, madly, deeply in love with Kerfoot and it's all sincerity every time they praise him.

Ever notice that every time they draft a smaller high IQ player with toolsy puck handling abilities, quick feet they are basically trying to find another Alex Kerfoot? I honestly think the Leafs would be fine with a 80% of their forwards were just Kerfoot clones. No judgement. They just love him. Even Jarnkrok is praised as a Kerfoot.

Wouldn’t move Muzzin for Chych, but we would need to move cap.

Would assume a deal would be based around Kerfoot + Holl + 1sts/prospects. Maybe Sandin included.

Chychrun-Rielly
Giordano-Brodie
Muzzin-Liljegren
Sandin/Holl

Not exactly like there are a ton of great ones out there that teams want to move, and it is more important that they can play RD well than they be RHD.

At that point, Brodie is far from a bandaid, and even Holl has been better than most people will ever care to admit. Now we have Liljegren ready to go too. A RD group of Brodie, Liljegren, and Holl is very good. Obviously there are issues with Liljegren being hurt right now, but those are not long term.

It makes a lot more sense to move Kerfoot than Holl right now TBH.

How many forwards have looked impressive in camp this year? Kerfoot is solid too but I don't think we are losing major quality going from him to Anderson, Malgin, or some other prospect like we would going from Holl to Mete or a UFA. That doesn't include the various defensive injuries we have right now. Muzzin and Gio should be getting rest days as well, and who knows about Sandin's health. We will need at least 7 good defensemen.

Kerfoot should have a pretty good market.

I think Dubas is too obsessed with smaller players with high IQ. It seems like Dubas wants to prove people wrong with those picks. Hopefully, one of those picks become Point and Kuch.

As for Kerfoot. I really don’t know why the love. There is nothing special about the way he plays, and I think this past playoffs showed he is really not a high IQ player.

No doubt about it bc I think if Holl is on your 3rd pairing, that’s not too bad.
