What supporting evidence do you have...or is it just conjecture? There's a growing narrative that Matty manages the team, choosing players and GM's - its disconcerting.
It could very well work out, but that would mean that they have an 8-figure backup, or at least 1A/1B.Given enough playing time, that Knight contract could work out just fine over the life of the deal. The overall spend on goaltending doesn't appear to be ideal though.
Wouldn't the 14.5 be next season? Perhaps they see him as the #1 next year and will move Bobrovsky?View attachment 588969
I get that Knight is likely to be a very good goalie, but spending $4.5 x 3, on a guy with 36 career games, and spending $14.5 mil on goaltending certainly is an interesting choice.
Correct, he's still on an ELC this year.Wouldn't the 14.5 be next season? Perhaps they see him as the #1 next year and will move Bobrovsky?

It always is but GM's always seem to find a way to do it.Yes, that $14.5 would be next season. Moving Bob will be quite the trick.

Muzzin and Liljegren both could start the year on the shelf . That would provide a bit of temporary breathing room. Kerfoot is who i expect to get that other top 6 spot . Holl could maybe still move but not with Sandin still unsigned and the above injury concerns lingering. I'd like Zar signed but may not happen with all the balls up in the air.Who’s your sixth top 6 guy then? And how do we fit it all under the cap? Honest questions.
Agree Holmberg would be an early test. If it doesn’t pan then NAK is back in starting lineup.
Don’t see how we keep Kerfoot in any scenario w Sandin, ZAR signed + extra man or two on roster. Trading Holl basically the only other option but I’d prefer the D depth

Do we have a link that Dubas offered him Liljegren's contract?
I'd speculate he did, but that isn't fact.
Two weeks before making those comments, Dubas signed Liljegren to a two-year, $2.8 million contract and it's widely believed that Toronto's offer to Sandin was identical.
$15 million between he and a Bobrovsky. Loves it!
Even if they find a way to move on from Bob, it's still going to be $10.5 mil min. $4.5 for Spencer, $5 mil for Bob... because they are going to have to retain 50% for sure, and $1 mil for a backup.... it's ugly.
Johnny on the shelf too so I take it back lmaoMuzzin and Liljegren both could start the year on the shelf . That would provide a bit of temporary breathing room. Teams start to run out of those sweetheart deals. Barkov, MacKinnon, Bergeron, Marchand, Point etc. all getting paid properly or are aging.I think it caps out their potential to do damage for the life of the Bobrovsk contract. Oh well.
Not really sure how he got more than ottingerView attachment 588969

Maybe Sandin should read the room and take a single year at a discount in his mind because it looks like there will be important minutes waiting for him once he joins the team with Liljegren out and possibly Muzzin. It's a great opportunity to build up some serious value.
Florida is still gonna be a strong team but also I think could easily become a nightmare with 1-2 injuries.
Great forward group, but Matthews-Marner at ~22 is better than Barkov-Tkachuk at 19.5. Their depth shines,
