It's a little curious that we're losing playoff series due to scoring depth but we generally need to add defense every year. To be fair, I think we need more out of Matthews in these playoffs.

IMO, we lost due to goaltending, and overall defense last year... not scoring, or depth scoring. We were bottom half in GA, and Campbell had the second worst SV% of any goalie in the playoffs last year. Scoring wasn't a problem.

Campbell's playoff numbers look pretty brutal, how would they be minus that one blowout? In any event, I do agree that Campbell played at an "acceptable" level at best last year. I think 1 of the 2 Nick Paul goals probably should've been saved. Props to him for playing through the injury and not allowing a 3rd goal. Whew that contract would've been a disaster here it'd be a weekly story.

Don't have the pleasure of seeing many Canucks games but my understanding is that schenn was been a decent vet for the Canucks. Don't think they want to trade their Masterson nominee anyways.

I don’t get all the Schenn love. If we had a really good 1-5 then sure I wouldn’t mind Schenn as our #6. But atm Schenn doesn’t really improve us at all.
This is kind of where I am. It's a lot like the Boosh conversation.

We don't need another 10-14min a night guy, we need a Murphy type who will come in and slot into the top 4, and bump someone down a spot.

Murphy or McCabe from Chicago, either would help improve our blueline and both defenceman can slot in next to Rielly. McCabe would be a lot less expensive to acquire.

I'm okay with a upgrade on Holl...with potential to slide into any of the Right side spots.

Rielly - Liljgren
Sandin - Brodie
Giordano - ____

They love Holl alot...he hasn't been terrible the last few. But I WANT a more reliable guy to anchor the shutdown late in games.

Bring Reimer back.

If Murray goes on permanent LTIR, that is a decent as any option. For now, we don't have the option of trading for another goalie. It also wouldn't be prudent to trade for one, until we know the situation... we don't really have the cap space, or contract space.

We need a top four dman who can kill penalties.
I'm mostly in agreement with you. I do think we are a good enough regular season team, and think we should wait a while, to really identify the teams biggest needs, and assess the available options.

Holl is great when he doesn't try to do too much. Won't bring a ton of offense, but his defensive game is strong.

Usually when defense is a problem for this team, it has more to do with forwards failing more than our defense. Defense gets blamed of course, but our forwards are a little bit unfocused at times.

Goaltending has been a major Achilles heel in the playoffs though. Sure our offense goes dry at times, but it doesn't help when we have to chase games that we shouldn't have had to chase because our goalie lets in a soft goal. Tampa also won a ton of Game 7s with a 2-1 type game. We never received a performance close to that from our goalies in elimination games. We'd be fortunate to only have him give up 2.

Oddly enough. I actually don't mind Holl when he's activated offensively haha.
He can pinch well, as seen by the recent goal.

But yes, when he's over worked in the backend - it can get bad.

I read the last Page, but didnt see any. Has y'all heard the rumors? A finnish source tells that dubas is in on Korpisalo...? Like woah. He played in the global classic. And is not the best gezoalie anymore. But we still might take him, hard.

I think we've forgotten how limited Luke Schenn is. Holl is Bobby Orr in the offensive end compared to Luke Schenn and Schenn is a very basic defender. Don't ask Luke Schenn to swap sides during a shift or throw up a quick breakaway pass.
