Ehhhh I think it's more "I have 2 pairings that I like, so I might as well stick these 2 together."

It's entirely possible Holl sticks around but then... who goes?
Perhaps this is the total group and Timmins goes on waivers? Hard to tell. There are obviously too many cooks in this kitchen.

I hope it doesn’t lead to a Liljegren scratch

I think we have done quite well tbh, we definitely had a stinker yesterday but regular seasons means jack to me until the playoffs begin.

We still have plenty of time to get our groove back.

Agreed.

People are concerned with one loss after the moves.

We’ve had a slam dunk deadline so far.

Let’s see how Dubas finishes it off. I think we acquire a winger.

The addition of Luke Schenn is even more needed now with Bertuzzi in Boston. It was imperative the leafs added someone on the back end that can punish the opposition forward continuously over a 7 game series and slow them down. And play a safe defensive game on top

Boston has Clifton and Forbort doing that for them.
Tampa has Bogosian and Ian Cole doing it for them.

I dont care what anyone says, McCabe and Schenn were needed

I don't want to sound like an ungrateful fan at all, but I'm just not overly excited about the additions in Lafferty, McCabe and Schenn, especially looking at the 1st rounder given up.

I feel like other teams have added more quality.

People wanted grit... they are quality grit adds. About as good as you are going to get.

So either you don't add grit, and you get people complaining about not having grit, or you get better quality players in which there are not many out there who can upgrade most of the guys we are currently putting out there.

If Schenn is in for Holl, in addition to replacing Engvall with Lafferty, we are already sacrificing enough quality for grit as it is (and it is not even like Holl is soft).

Yeah the loss last night got people stressed. A stinker like that was bound to happen. Chemistry will come with the team.

I liked what I saw from both Lafferty and McCabe last night. Not to mention, Edmonton was playing like they were in game 7 of the finals.

People have to understand, with the LEafs being the most prominent team, we're going to be getting every team's best effort

Crosby at center would be nice.

That man wants to win, and even with his mileage would not accept last night.

Cole and Bogosian are the pair we need to exploit. Bruins might be too good and they have too much character to fold like Tampa did when they had their generational year.

And it really started at the top too. Matthews had another bad game. And it was our worst defensive game in a long time. We didn't actually do a terrible job stopping EDM, but we gave them way too many free chances off of pure sloppiness with the puck. Samsonov had a bad game too.

Doesn't matter what Dubas does if the team plays like that. Fortunately, they rarely do.

Oilers play that way most of the time, and they do well unless their goaltender folds.
Last night they could have had Sparks in net and won.

I really don't think that's anywhere near what will happen but I don't know.

Yea, we just need another winger or player that can contribute that can help...im tired of #15...at least the snake scored at times even if he fanned on the breakaways
It would be nice to free up forwards from onerous defensive duties when badly paired defensive lines are on the ice

Its def Holl who's going to be scratched. No way its Liligeren.

Also, its hilarious to see Holl play as physical as he did last night, because he knows his job is in jeopardy after the Luke Schenn acquisition

If he had played this physical from the beginning, maybe Luke schenn wasnt even needed. Took this long for the message to go to this dude's head

It's also still entirely possible that the Leafs shed someone like say Kerfoot, as rumoured, for their upgrade and keep the 9D.

It would be risky to have 12F but they could roll 11F - 7D for a bit and recall someone if a player goes down to injury.

Friedman said yesterday that the whole reason they double-retained on Orielly was to keep kerfoot aorund.

The East is an absolute nightmare this season. And the winner might be so battered that the West rep walks away with the title!!

And i think it will be the case and liljegren didn't help himself yesterday

I think schenn will play with rielly and holl with gio and i already know fan will be upset about keefe if its really whats happening

I don't think it makes sense to move Kerfoot. If you want offense out of your bottom 6, you won't find many who will upgrade Kerfoot even with his 7% shooting percentage this year. Plus we could use a decent playmaker/passer down there if ROR ends up swapping with Jarnkrok.

I somewhat abandoned the thought but Beauvillier would actually not suck if he had retention. Scored huge goals for NYI in the playoffs. PPG since going to VAN when he started playing with good offensive players on a consistent basis.

Of course Domi is still there too... but the price can't suck.
