Arizona has 4 firsts, 9 seconds and 8 thirds the next 3 drafts.
If Arizona offered all that unprotected + Guenther & Keller for Matthews this offseason I might think about it.

Honestly, considering the joke of an arena they are currently in I don’t blame them for just deferring down the road. That isn’t an arena for most big league players.
Defer and try and start fresh in the new arena.
Yeah theres already Leaf haters on the main board thread saying we gave about the same for McCabe, which isnt even true because Ottawa’s 1st will be much higher than ours.
Not comparable moves at all and im still stoked for McCabe.
I would way have rathered that than McCabe myself
They also have to convince the picks they do get to come play in a university stadium. So ridiculousDoesn't help that they also don't seem to have great scouts either.
Most of those picks will go to waste
If you believe his value was Douglas you’ll be on an island alone with that.Thats who he was traded for 3 months ago. His value was close to nothing before Toronto found him.
… now I’m not one to overestimate the intelligence of main boards posters but are they not aware we also got Lafferty in that trade too?
Ya I didn't really get that one from the startNo worries. Matt Murray says they have a great medical staff. LOL.
Every trade that gets made gets compared to us.… now I’m not one to overestimate the intelligence of main boards posters but are they not aware we also got Lafferty in that trade too?
Yes-Chychrun is better, our picks will be of lesser quality than Ottawa'sI would way have rathered that than McCabe myself
I don’t “think” his value was Douglas, I know his value was Douglas… that’s who he was traded for. Any team could have offered a better prospect than Douglas and got Timmins. Neither of them were top prospects or performing well. This was not a highly coveted player and if you think he was a valuable player at that time you’re delusional. His stock was down considerably at that time. If anything his value increased after we traded for him and he had a good run of games, but not enough to keep him over an NHL regular who has produced in the playoffs, as we are heading into the most important playoff series this franchise has had since 1967.If you believe his value was Douglas you’ll be on an island alone with that.
One will never sniff the NHL while the other will be in the starting 6 here next season.
You realize he was the main piece for Keumper a season ago?
Before me made any trade, months ago knowing Chychyrun/Gavrikov were available my #1 trade target was a McCabe/Lafferty package from Chicago.Yes-Chychrun is better, our picks will be of lesser quality than Ottawa's
No-Chychrun is significantly more expensive, we directly lose out on another player (Lafferty)
I imagine the asking price for Chychrun would have differed depending upon quality of team (which of course affects the quality of the draft picks involved). I doubt this trade outcome was going to be on the table for Toronto.
Given how deep the 2023 draft allegedly is and how barren the rest of the trade market is I could see the Leafs being done now. And hell, keeping Boston’s first is incentive to get past Tampa and beat Boston in round 2 to make that pick as high as possible.
… now I’m not one to overestimate the intelligence of main boards posters but are they not aware we also got Lafferty in that trade too?
Yea, to put it on a level playing field:It wouldn't have cost that for the Leafs. Their pick(s) won't end up as high as the Sens own pick.
And if they asked the Coyotes to retain, price goes up.
