Arizona is such a terrible franchise, what a joke of a return. A pick that will be in the Teens, and a couple 2nds when they are more likely to be in another city than contending for the playoffs.

If that's legit all they could get there must be something wrong with him that the public doesn't know about.

They were better off just keeping him. I mean he's already a decent young D. Why trade him for picks that may or may not work out in 5 years

for 2 years we've heard how insane the asking price is going to be. That's just a huge fail.

Wow we could have easily topped that. I guess the move on defence was having McCabe at $2 million and they found value in having a dirt cheap top 4 guy.

Edit: Not just us, anyone could have topped that
Getting McCabe for $2m to replace Muzzin saves us $3m which can go to signing ROR. Shrewd move.

This will be his 7th season and he has yet to top 68 games and has only top 60 twice. Obviously covid seasons effects that but I think he is quite injury propne

You gotta figure that Dubas is going for a forward for sure. If he was focusing on acquiring another dman, Chychrun would have been a Leaf, I would have to think. He could have easily beat that offer. So…

Who is the forward he’s going to get? Can’t wait to find out!!

That's an awful return for Arizona. Looks like as I predicted, played hardball too much and too long scared away all the buyers and then panicked and took whatever dela was left.

I also won't be surprised if the Sens still miss the playoffs next season lol. Though we're going to now hear all summer about how much they've allegedly improved. All hot air until they actually prove it

Lmao what is even the point of the condition on that second round pick?

Even if the Sens make the playoffs there is no chance they can beat 2 teams to get to the ECF. Seriously, why bother.

They need goaltending and a lot better defensive depth. Chychrun is a great start of course. They have a lot of assets, they just need to dial it in.

Arizona didn’t want to retain or eat money, Ottawa might.

That return for Chychrun is obviously lower than anticipated. Ottawa has some work to do in order to diminish the potential value of that 1st round pick though. Of course, the Sens wouldn't mind the success they'd have if that conditional 2nd morphs into another 1st. While I'm quite surprised that Ottawa ultimately won these sweepstakes, Arizona's mishandling of the situation/ask caused a number of suitors to understandably pivot away.

Yeah theres already Leaf haters on the main board thread saying we gave about the same for McCabe, which isnt even true because Ottawa’s 1st will be much higher than ours.

Not comparable moves at all and im still stoked for McCabe.
