I mean, he shouldn't have been on 2nd line, but 150+ pts in 387 gms avgs out to 32 pts a season which is more than respectful for a 4th line regular. I would say those saying he's not an NHL'r are not being genuine.

It's a pretty typical suburb with household income well above the national average, where about half the kids at the local public HS go directly to a 4-year university, and another 45 % or so go to a 2-year school at which point many of those will transfer to a 4-year university, and then misc. go to trade school/military and a handful into the workforce. He also played on the Mission AAA team where a lot of other future NHL players have passed through.

Wouldn't say he grew up poor/underprivileged or anything.

Ya, but Vinnie? Family was poor as shit. Dude got all his gear off the back of a truck, paid for his ice time by also being the team bus driver. One time he didn’t have a stick for the game, so his pops tells him “you gotta take what others are given in life, son.” So he stole an opponent’s stick before the game, and knocked down the whole row of sticks while he was at it.
