So how has it all shook out so far for the Leafs (picks canceling each other out)?

In:
O'Reilly (75% retained)
Acciari
Lafferty
McCabe (50% retained x2 more years)
Schenn
Gustafsson
5th
5th

Out:
Abramov
Gaudette
Sandin
Andersen
Gogolev
Engvall
1st
2nd
2nd
3rd
4th

Am I missing something?
That's INSANE return.

Wouldnt think for 1 sec at the start of the season that we get those guys without giving up atleast 1 of our top prospects.

Sandin and the 1st is the only value we gave away.

But there are quite a few that don't like him because of his name.

And I wouldn't be getting him to be a defensive player, it would be to add some offense to the bottom 6. You know like Kerfoot is supposed to do.

He would give a boost offensively no doubt. Even with his minutes slashed, he'd probably be an upgrade offensively on most of our bottom 6 options.

It’s been musical chairs with our bottom six ever since the Matthews and Marner extensions and the cap being flat due to the pandemic. Nothing new there.

IMO, it’s already been a lot of trade deadline moves, what’s one more if it improves us?

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Tavares - O’Reilly - Nylander
Jarnkrok - Kampf - Lafferty
Aston Reese - Acciari - Kerfoot

Looking at the forward group, top six is stacked but the bottom six, even though A LOT harder to play against doesn’t really have a scoring punch.

Are they saving a LW spot for Knies and going to have Aston-Reese an extra? Or are they going to use that 1st along with either Gustafsson or Holl for a forward who can slot in on either the second or third line?
Bunting matthews marner
Janrok tavares nylander
Knies Ror xxx
Accairi kampf laferty
Zar/mcmann/Holmberg

Add a scoring forward to the xxx and thats three lines capable of scoring

The way your score on bottom 6 in playoff, is by being hard on forecheck, drive the net, working hard in front the net for deflection or rebound

But honestly i dont think henrique is a signifiant upgrape to what kerfoot bring...

Hes a better shooter, thats it... and kerfoot is a better playmaker... he dont have a higher Hockey IQ, not better defensivly, he dont bring more physicality...he can bring faceoff ability but leafs already add ror, acciari and lafferty who are pretty good on faceoff so dont need this anymore...you add the favt kerfoot already having chemistry with the team... thats not making any sense waste a 1st for this
I never said I’d move Kerfoot, in fact with all the changes to the bottom six, I’d be holding onto Kerfoot.

Henrique was a name I just threw out there. Main point is I still wonder if Dubas packages Bostons 1st along with one of Gus or Holl and potentially a prospect for a player who can slot in somewhere on the second or third line.

Another name potentially could be Duclair.

I doubt the Leafs move Kerfoot. With Engvall moving out, I honestly think we should hold onto Kerfoot as well.

Guess what? Kerfoot has been an elite shutdown winger this season.

Get Henrique at 50 % and roll 3 lines

Knies-Matthews-Nylander - scoring line 1
Bunting-Henrique-Marner - scoring line 2
Tavares-O’Reilly-Jarnkrok - shutdown line vs Bergeron/Kucherov

This is gonna to be a dud of a trade deadline show on Friday. Everybody is traded it seems like except for Chychrun. The whole show will Center around where he’s going lol

Jacob will never get traded. It's already one deadline behind

and hes missing the 1st we got back and josh pillar (if anyone rates him)

its really

In:
O'Reilly (75% retained)
Acciari
Lafferty - for 1 more year
McCabe (50% retained x2 more years)
Schenn
Gustafsson
josh pillar
1st
5th
5th

Out:
Abramov
Gaudette
Sandin
Andersen
Gogolev
Engvall
1st
2nd
2nd
3rd
4th

Only slightly out on picks, does feel bad to lose Sandin but wasn't going to help us this year or next because of McCabe, and we gave ourselves great cost control for this year and next with McCabe and Lafferty contracts. First time we benefited on some of our UFAs.

I'm still thinking one more trade.

I think or hope we trade
Kerfoot a 2nd rd pk
Holl a 3rd rd pick

Use our 2024 1st rdvpknto gab a top 6 player

Didn’t we trade two 1sts? One in the O’Reilly deal and another in the McCabe deal? Then we got one back in the Sandin deal.

Troy Terry or Konecny with 2 million retained would be nice.
If we flop in the playoffs again we could flip Nylander for 1st round picks and prospects to fill up the cupboard again because he's going to cost 10 plus, but at same time essentially replacing him with Konecny or Terry.

Troy Terry is an RFA after this year and you can definitely bet he’s getting 7+ million per. No chance we get him.

That’d be stupid. f*** off Frank.

I don't know how these analysts don't understand... Where are they putting this expensive goaltender and how in the hell are they affording it cap space wise.

I understand Murray's health is questioned but he's practicing and travelling with the team. He'll be back by the week-end, after the deadline is done.

It's like they think there's still a taxi squad going on.

A look at our picks where we currently stand as I type this. Kind of funny 2025 is more depleted than 2024, but it also gives more time to recoup if needed. We will see where we are after Friday. But I have to say in combination with not dealing top prospects and how much the team has improved, this really isn't that dire. I think we've done fairly well in this regard. 2024 with more picks than there are rounds!

If they flop again in the playoffs, Matthews should be dealt before his NMC kicks in and he walks in free agency or handcuffs the team with his $15mm ask.

If this core can't get it done after all of these moves it's rotten to the ...

He's dirt cheap this year and that's what matters. If there's any chance the Ducks would trade him for a Meier level package (probably less obviously), I'd be really all over it if I'm the Leafs.

With Knies possibly joining the team too, did some research for those looking at still wanting another scoring winger.

Was looking at 5v5 points production (/60) over the last 3 seasons among the 206 forwards with at least 2000+ minutes.

83. Kopitar
84. Kerfoot
85. J.T. Miller

Not too bad.

OK but how has he been defensively?

Lowest xGA/60 among those 206 players?

13. Kerfoot (and lowest among all Leafs forwards)

OK....

but how has Kerfoot been in the playoffs the last 3 years?

2 goals, 8 points in 14 games. (4th among Leafs forwards)

Kerfoot might be fine going forward?

He's obviously underrated defensively and brings more offense than many think too.

With his 1 goal 2 assist in 13 playoff game... do he really bring more exemple like what a holmberg can bring?
