Honestly, even if he goes to Ottawa that's fairly non threatening to the Leafs in the grand scheme of things at least over the next couple years
I wouldn’t sleep on Ottawa.
Plenty of talent there.
They’ve had this okay year missing their #2C aince pretty much the start.
Not sure Chych is the answer, but they’re not far off.

Lawson Crouse. Big physical top 6 LW signed for four more years. Zona would love to get their hands on hometown boy Knies. They'd probably retain salary too.

I woke up thinking Dubas is probably stoll going to go after a 2LW or upgrade the forward group still.

being right so early in the morning is a good sign.

Tough one to me, because although Crouse is a great target that ELC and potential Knies contribution should be worth its weight in gold to us.

Yeah it would be tough but realistically I think most of us would be relatively pleased if Knies turned into what Crouse is now. Big 20 goal scorer on the LW. But Crouse is a sure thing and he's 25, fits the core's timeline perfectly, with four more cost-controlled years. He only makes 4.3. If we dangle Knies, we could probably have him on board for a cap hit of 3 or so. That's pretty valuable.

Is Carolina doing anything,? Everyone else in the east loaded up. They got pool party.
They’re caught in spot with Raanta. Can he win a few rounds or do you try and upgrade? Could they add Quick as backup?

They should do something with the cap space they have.

I dont think the leafs move knies. Certainly not before seeing him play and nhl game. He has some pretty good upside and different from the rest of the skilled guys have.

Based on most of the trades, draft picks seems to be the going rate. Im not sure i ever seen so many picks moved from future drafts as well.

If crouse was the target, I would think a 1st, maybe some salary and some addition picks or prospects could get it done who are not knies.

Leafs already replace someone in their top 9

They change completly is 4th line

He already add a top 4 D

Also add a 6/7 D ans a 8/9th

I think his work is done ( and hope), he cant change even more chemistry of his team. Can have reverse result too much change at the end

I'm in favour of standing pat, maybe flipping Gustafsson to regain some pick capital. Leaves money to run 14F 8D the rest of the season.

There's a case to be to load up to the fullest extent, also one to have the roster flexibility to carry the full squad we want into the the playoffs, rest some guys, try out combinations etc.

With 9D on the roster? We need to flip at least one D.

If they want to try O'Reilly on the third, he is going to need a good winger. Given we are overloaded on D, I would assume we trade a combination of D and picks for a gritty winger that can score.

Or go big and get Konecny from Philly for Knies and get Anderson from MTL (big time retained for this season at least) for picks/prospects and Kerfoot.

After sleeping on it I think Holl will be the defenseman traded. When Keefe was talking about Gustaffson yesterday it sounded like he's in the plans. Hes the best fit for the Sandin role of offensive defenseman from our depth.

Seems wild that Holl could be traded considering he was near leading us in TOI for long stretches but I think that's where we are now.
