I hate the Engvall trade. No matter how people clowned on him, he was always an effective defensive 3L that had the ability to score 40 points. I'm honestly not certain there's a better player in our bottom-6 and we'll feel his loss when nobody down there can drive play or move the puck in transition.

In the regular season, sure, maybe. His playoff play however left A LOT to be desired

And those picks have an ETA of about 4-5 years?

Knies had a 1-2 year ETA of more than doubling his trade value without playing a single NHL game. We can draft someone and use them to go all-in again next year bundled with the 2024 1st. Tampa and Boston will have absolutely nothing left to trade for rentals to load up again, we'll be bidding against Carolina and NJ basically.

Okay but like... seriously. Waking up to that was insanity.

I don't love the Schenn trade. Okay cool, you traded for a guy that can handle a bottom-pair role.... if he passes Liljegren on the depth chart even once I'll probably lose it. Why are we trading a 3rd for *this* much defenseman depth? We're 9 deep easy. There has to be another move.

A Sandin trade was never going to be an easy one to win, but he also would have been real unhappy after signing that deal and having to sit. He's a very good NHL defenseman, and wish him the best. Gustafsson having an insane year though and a 1st is a 1st.

Lol what the f***.

I understand not loving the engvall trade, but it was either him, holl kerfoot to be cap compliant for the Murray reactivation. By essentially flipping him for Schenn we got there. I kind of think Gustafsson is flipped before Friday. Fully Agreed with the your Liljegren stance.

I’m closer to you on this.

Fine with moving Engvall. We now had better competitive options and would lose him for nothing. He wasn’t tipping anything our way.

If we had gotten Jensen from Washington instead for Sandin, I don’t think the Schenn trade should happen and we keep our 3rd and open trading Holl too. Don’t like losing Sandin, but I get it and getting a good Top 4 RHD in Jensen would lessen the sting, and McCabe would be solid in a 2LHD role.

Not as thrilled with todays business but let’s see what we end up with come Friday after deadline…..

Jarnkrok, Kerfoot can move the puck well enough. Kampf gets the puck out of the zone, even though offensively can't do much with it. Acciari seems decent enough, and Lafferty as well... I don't think we'll have problems honestly.

At this point, be patient and see what the final product is... I agree, more is coming.

Edmonton should be a favourite to make the Conference finals now. See how they match up against Vegas.

Very good deal for Edmonton, makes them that much better.
