Not really a fan of all these moves just for the sake of it. The Leafs aren't any better by swapping out Sandin/Engvall for Gustavsson/Schenn, and it seems like it hasn't gone over well with the other Swedish players. Hopefully this is just a precursor to another quality addition, otherwise it just makes the team worse in the short and long terms
There has to be something more to all this, otherwise we're hurting team chemistry on a roster that looked pretty much complete yesterday after the McCabe deal

while i agree with the current moves - f*** the feelings of the other players.

Tryna win here.

Yeah I'd be happy if it means new 1st + 2024 1st + Kerfoot for Chychrun or something, but even that would make other moves necessary as we already have too many defensemen. I just can't think of many good forwards on the market, maybe Bertuzzi?

You are forgetting they added Accari, Lafferty, McCabe and ROR without losing anyone. I don’t think you can look at it as straight up swapping Engvall and Sandin for Gust/Schenn, but also making more room for the other additions.

Too bad. It's a business. Should be a nice wake up call for them

Based on what? The deals just happened.

I don't think it's for the sake of it. It's quite clear the Leafs want more physicality and strength in the lineup and in their depth.

It's just a lot of turnover. This should have been done last off-season or something. Probably wasn't completely possible of course but I think they needed to be more pro-active much before the trade deadline.

The core of the team is the same now their supporting pieces are heavier/stronger after giving them a chance to elevate their game.

Honestly, I'm a little underwhelmed with the acquisitions overall.

I think a lot of quantity over quality.

There were better players available than the ones we acquired. Still don't think we have the scoring depth on the wings.

Have to assume we've got another move in us for a quality winger.

Stacked on D and a lot of sideways moves, two first rounders still in our pockets.

Agree to disagree. I think the players we’ve added are perfect fits for our needs, and while we maybe could have made a deal for a big fish, it would have limited the overall roster change that Dubas and co are looking for. Also, we probably couldn’t afford to keep any of those big fish. Everyone we’ve acquired is retainable, even ROR who is a huge add

I assume some of those moves were done to help with a bigger trade and the depth for physicality during playoffs.
