thoughts on laff?

He's a fine depth player that people seem to like. I don't know much about him besides his analytics have always been poo, but they could realistically improve on a good team because his role should drastically decrease.

yeah that's my feeling as well. I imagine we targeted him to add some grit but also to help with PK?

I cant see kerfoot staying - doesn't make much sense.

RoR Kampf Mitch Acciari Lafferty and Engvall all can kill pens now.

Gotta wonder if we move a forward:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Tavares - ROR - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - Acciari - Kerfoot
Aston-Reese/Simmonds/Hunt/Mcmann/Clifford/Steeves || Knies? Robertson?

If Knies is Ready or Robertson is healthy, I wonder if we move Engvall or Kerfoot.

Especially with a Knies ELC.

What's nice about this latest move is that it should cement that the Leafs aren't planning on relying on Simmonds or Clifford in the playoffs as the physical players they need.

yep - knies top 6 expectations aren't there. But if he signs, he could give us some solid fourth line minutes and add some offensive spark there.

I wish we could get a legit top 6 winger to move RoR to 3C but we cant have everything.

if the stars show up this is a long run.

Say Knies signs after his season is over, where does he even fit?

Has to be a few more moves made.

I assume these will be the lines;

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Tavares - O'Rielly - Nylander
Jarnkrok - Kampf - Engvall
Aston-Reese - Acciari - Lafferty

So Knies probably comes in for ZAR for a some games to end the year.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Nylander
Knies/Acciari - O'Rielly - Lafferty
Engvall - Kampf - Acciari/ZAR

also a possibility if they move Tavares back to C.

(assuming Kerfoot is moved)

Don't be surprised if you see Kerfoot + for Garland retained

Would Vancouver really retain for this year + 3 though? I had wondered about that, but dismissed for that reason.

I wonder about Kerfoot + Holl, for Schenn + Pick, or Schenn + Hoglander. If it's a pick, go out and get someone like Comtois, another heavy LW, who has shown the ability to score in the past.

Garland would need to be 50% retained for the Leafs to afford it. They're over the cap after Murray is activated.

Vancouver ain't doing that without a 1st or something here.

The ‘24 first, Sandin, and Kerfoot would be on the move if I had my choice. Go get a defining piece to take this team deep

Since we have a glut on D, instead of Holl, maybe we can trade Sandin+Kerfoot+prospect to Vancouver for Kuzmenko. His cap his is only 900K for the year and is re-signed for two more years.

he'd look good on Tavares wing.

I think it would be a mistake to trade Sandin... he's going to be very good in a few years, and I don't really think this team needs a "defining" piece. That being said, I'm at the point where nothing would shock me.... 24' 1st and Sandin, and we bring in Chychrun at 50%. The D at that point is ridiculous.

He's resigned at $5.5 mil. That's a tough pill to swallow, without retention. Though we could always give Minnesota another 5th...

Icing on the cake would be to pry Kane out of Chi.

Deal can't be made til Wed so Dubas has 2 days to convince him Tor is the place to come instead of NY
