Without Muzzin is our D better today than it was going into the playoffs last year ?? A Muzzin replacement is now a must.
So many holes to fill and no cap to do it all.

Seems Sweeney the checker player was a couple of moves ahead of our 3D chess player. What a waste of 4 picks if we can't resign ROR or can't get out of the Atlantic. So many holes to fill and no cap to do it all.
Orlov + Hathaway over ROR + Acciari? I don’t agree, but not that farfetched.Personally would have preferred the Boston package
No way. Acciari is as good as Hathaway if not better even and ROR is a more impactful piece than Orlov, as good as Orlov is. ROR won a Cup, Selke and a Smythe in 2019, and provides a lot of versatility as he can play C or wing and is exactly the type of grizzled playoff vet that we've needed.Personally would have preferred the Boston package
If we got Orlov and Hathaway, you can say the same thing about re-signing Orlov.Seem Sweeney the checker player was a couple of moves ahead of our 3D chess player. What a waste of 4 picks if we can't resign ROR or can't get out of the Atlantic.
Dubas has one more bullet but it may need to be a magic bullet.Boston was going ti be a tough series if we got them before
Now i don't think we match well and would lose to them
Both Orlov and Hathaway are both UFA's. Not sure what the other poster is going on about. Would've been in the same predicamentIf we got Orlov and Hathaway, you can say the same thing about re-signing Orlov.

I see the Leafs trade and Bruins trade as equal. Both paid the same value to get players of the same value that fit their team better.

If ROR plays anything close to the level he was at in 2021 or prior (i.e. a near PPG C with elite defense and clutch playoff performer) then it becomes more lopsided. He's got the highest upside by far out of the 4 players.I see the Leafs trade and Bruins trade as equal. Both paid the same value to get players of the same value that fit their team better.

f*** those are good pickups for Boston, fills exactly what they needed. With that said, I guess this means Washington is a seller now, so I wonder if the Leafs can somehow finesse Jensen from them?
me sitting here and waiting to see what Tampa is going to pull off
So, you're hypothesing the Leafs making two deals instead? One with St. Louis for Acciari and one to Washington for Orlov?Orlov was the best d on the caps when they won the cup.
Personally.
Bunting. Matthews. Nylander
Jarnkrok. Tavares. Marner
Kerfoot. Kampf. Engvall
ZAR. Acciari. Holmberg
Rielly. Brodie
Sandin. Orlov
Gio. Lilly
Is a much better lineup IMO
I thought orlov played left D... also I saw caps fans saying when orlov played on the right it didn't go well.Orlov was the best d on the caps when they won the cup.

What I am going on about has nothing to do with which package/UFAs we traded for. It is about having nothing to show for our 4 picks if we do not make a deep run. It was already risky with needing to beat Tampa and Boston to get out of the Atlantic. IMO this was not the year to push in most of your chips.I see the Leafs trade and Bruins trade as equal. Both paid the same value to get players of the same value that fit their team better.

That's a bit of a stretch. Orlov played very well and was important to their run but Niskanen and Carlson were the leaders on the Caps defense. ROR literally won MVP for his team and don't forget that it's the Bruins that he owned in the Finals, he neutralized Bergeron and co. defensively while leading his team in scoring.Orlov was the best d on the caps when they won the cup.

It's the exact same deal, Boston got a top 4 dman and a 4th line winger, Toronto got a top 6 forward and a 4th line center for the exact same price, it's just that each team had a different need.I see the Leafs trade and Bruins trade as equal. Both paid the same value to get players of the same value that fit their team better.

My point is we should not have traded for rentals given what we were starring at. Can we afford to move assets with nothing to show for them ?? Hence we need to get out of the Atlantic or resign them. It just got tougher today. If we got Orlov and Hathaway, you can say the same thing about re-signing Orlov.
