Tom Wilson is also back on the ice. With only 1 more year to go after this one...Wash might be willing to retain.
Dont see them trading Wilson. He's gonna be a Cap for a long time.

I think Hathaway is attainable however and should be a target. Orlov is going to be out of our price range

I’d trade ‘24 1st + for Orlov + Hathaway.
Ditch Kerfoot and Holl

For playoffs:

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Tavares-ROR-Marner
Engvall-Kampf-Jarnkrok
Knies-Acciari-Hathaway
/ZAR

Orlov-Rielly
Sandin-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren
/Timmins

Samsonov
Murray

Would be filthy

Hathaway seems like the player Tampa always ends up getting every trade deadline.

He's gonna be a pain in the ass to play against. Really hoping he goes west, if not traded to the leafs

Yeah it doesn't make sense. Having Schenn in the lineup over Sandin would really limit the offensive creativity and awareness of the blue line.

If we're going to bump or trade Sandin (which I highly oppose), then it has to be for someone who can bring as much offense as him
There are a bunch of scenarios where I would be okay with trading Sandin or doing something that pushes him out of the lineup. But a rental depth 6/7 Dman like Schenn isn’t one of them. It’s so short sited and asinine.

The downplaying of Liljegren continues but I'm not shocked with the members of our media.

That price is a joke.
They stand by their opinions even when it's exposing them as having limited hockey minds.
Some people will respect that they stick to their guns. I see it as a good reason not to pay attention to them.

Orlov apparently has a 5 team NTC... I doubt we're on it... but I just found it weird because I don't remember ever seeing another 5 team NTC.

Washington in sell mode provides some interesting possibilities.

Honest question: how would Orlov improve our RHD situation?

He doesn't play RHD, and by all accounts by Caps fans, when he did try it, it didn't go well.

Even if the price is paid for Orlov, Holl is still playing when we don't want him to, above a 3RHD role.

Adding Orlov essentially removes Sandin, and doesn't improve our Holl situation at all, to bring in a 31 year old defenceman at the expense of Sandin.......?

I just don't see it......

He’s left-handed but can play the right side.

Rielly-Orlov
Sandin-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren
/Timmins

Rielly and Orlov can swap sides if needed

Fans might want Holl out but it doesn’t seem like management and the coaching staff agree with us.
Adding Orlov at least would give Holl a baby sitter. Holl has been his best with us when he has had a partner that could carry him a bit like prime Muzzin and Brodie.

But I really believe you can’t push Sandin out of the lineup without it pretty much being the end of his time here. I would be excited to add a guy like Orlov but they better have a plan in place for Rasmus if they went that route.

and what about a Giraffe ROR Kampf shutdown line? think that might look nice, or sub jarny for the giraffe?

Honestly, Hathaway-Acciari-ZAR are good enough defensively where we could even run them as our defensive/matchup 3rd line. Would be a nightmare for opposing 1st lines. That's if we want to keep our top 6 as they are presently.

The Kampf line would then be a fine "just don't get scored on" line for 8 minutes/game.

I don't think Orlov had interest in re signing there so they are probably just trying to get whatever they can for him since many teams will be interested.

If Chabot, Savard, Gavrikov, etc, all bring back 1st+, then you have to think Orlov could get the equivalent of a pair of firsts back. Any team trading that would want to retain him in the offseason, so I think it's more likely that he'll go to a team with plenty of offseason cap room (Buffalo, Carolina, LA, etc).
