Random thought - I don't think enough attention is paid to how ballsy of a move it was (and how right it was) to move on from Campbell without any kind of backup plans this past summer. 887 and 3.39 GAA for Campbell is wretched. So glad we didn't take the easy road and extend him because we didn't have anyone else in the pipeline.

JVR doesn't seem like a fit to me.
IMO, a 3C who plays like Acciari is the need.
Definitely easier said than done. As good as Tavares - O’Reilly - Marner have played together, I think we’ll see Tavares and O’Reilly centering their own lines heading into the playoffs. I think a third line winger with a little jam would be the best way to go (retained Vatrano).

Then have a shutdown line of Engvall - Kampf - Acciari as your fourth line.

I feel we need a Jake Muzzin-esque d-man, and another Acciari (or even better, an Acciari with goal scoring affinity) and we will be all set.

for Chychrun I would make Sandin part of the package
He would have to be included as our 2LHD would be set for the future, which is where ideally we would have hoped that Sandin would develop into that role.

I still think the ‘yotes are over-valuing him and could very well hold onto him if they don’t get what they want.

One of the more interesting sagas that I can remember, to say the least.

Yeah, they may very well go that route. I just think they'll want that flexibility to add ROR to the top 2 lines and hopefully not lose much at 3C. If that player could also play 2w it would be an added bonus.

If we have the cap room, I’d rather keep Kerfoot. He’s actually played well for us in the playoffs and can play in our bottom six.

If Kerfoot is apart of a move where we clearly upgrade in a certain position, then see ya lol.

1st, Knies , Sandin for Chychrun @ 50% retention.

That's my gut feeling what's going to happen. And I'm going to dislike it.

Make them add Hayton and Fischer and it might make it easier to swallow. Not by much.

Why? His Salary for the year is $750k. His actual Salary is only $202k today.
A contender won't want him and a bottom feeder will have no use for the pending UFA.
Like anything, not impossible but it I don't see it as being simple.
