Trying to think outside the box here.
There has been some chatter in Vancouver about Conor Garland as a possible buyout candidate. He's making $4.95 million AAV for 3 more seasons.
How about a deal like Garland ($1.95 million retained) and Schenn for Kerfoot, Joey Anderson, and B prospect (Kral)?
Garland will add firepower to the lineup and could be a Bunting/Kerfoot replacement next season for $3 million AAV, and Schenn can slot in and out of the lineup as required.
Vancouver gets Kerfoot - who they can flip out for a pick, and 2 lottery tickets for a player that was going to cost them twice as much to buy out, and a pending UFA. It also frees up more roster spots and cap space for the Leafs.
