Calgary is 2 points out of WC2 and 5 points up on the team behind thm. I don’t think a decision on being a seller or a buyer will come until much closer to the deadline.
 
Maybe Dubas can try to get Chychrun for Kerfoot and a 2nd. And can sweeten the deal by taking Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd.

For sure, lots of ifs. But if it gets to that point I hope we at least inquire.

Do you think Arizona has held Chychrun for 2 year to take a return of an impending UFA Kerfoot and a 2nd in 2026 (our next available)?

They don’t care about Little or Ladd. Insurance pays their contracts and they will help them hit the floor after the deadline

I’m pretty sure they need them to get to the floor now.

Also, I think if you acquire a player who is not already on LTIR, you need to fit them in before you van LTIR them. And maybe even if they are already on LTIR. But I’m not sure. May be somebody who understands it better can explain.

Good point. I was wondering if we could use money as leverage, specially against the poorer teams. But if these players are insured then that doesn't work.

Recency bias is hilarious .. to me this goes back to what I said earlier in the week. It’s possible Kane’s play could be lack of motivation .. because you see he’s motivated tonight and look what he can do

Put him in a Toronto market starved for success?

Interesting combo

I’m still looking in that price and feasibility

I was too lol. But don't see a practical fit for it now, especially now that the Leafs have traded the picks for ROR. Unless the Hawks would be interested in a prospect (not any of the Leafs too 2-3 guys though).

Getting kane also stops us from him eliminating us in round 1/2/3 should 1 one of Tampa/Boston/Canes/Rangers get him

The dude is one of the most clutch playoff performers in the league.

Get him, don't let those 4 teams somehow get him if he is fine going there.

2024 1st + Minten (worth a 2nd) + 3rd/4th to team C (retains 25%) + Kerfoot (this is potentially not needed, don't know the cap numbers exactly, but if we can get kane and keep Kerfoot then keep him)

Kane@75% retained
 
Kane showing he can still take over a game when he wants to. Though the Leafs didn’t make it all that hard on him on at least two of his goals. Don’t know if we have the assets to pull off another double retention deal even if Kane forces a trade only to Toronto.

I think drop Minten and I'd be more inclined.

The market for Kane is close to being he Leafs or nobody. That should impact the cost

If kane only accepts coming here then can drop minten to a guy like SDA

But if there are 4-5 other teams he is willing to go to then need to include minten to secure the deal

I don’t think you get Meier without Knies going the other way.
