don't know how we'd pull it off, but Wood+Zacha package would be amazing

Nylander + is what they'd ask for. Would not pay the price

Zacha is finally producing this year for them and wood is a fast and heavy 40-50 point guy this year.

I'd target rakell/granlund/haula/Foglino/Pearson instead as lower grabs

I'm on the boat for a 3c, top 6 winger depends on the cost. Also, Engvall looked good on the 3rd line to last year too, I think he does well with better players around him, but ideally, he's on the 4th line. I want a two-way 3c with some speed, and oomph to his game.

Wonder how the cap implications look in the summer. Do we really extend Freddie?

Unlikely. I've watched quite a few Panthers games this year, Driedger would be a smart guy to grab, I don't think Florida can keep with 10-10.5M AAV invested in Bob.

yeah, he makes a lot of money for his ok performance, I think like you said there are some cheaper alternatives available. Freddie would be looking to make 5/6 mil that's just too much.

He also has another year remaining on his contract at a 2 million dollar cap hit.

Toronto and LA have had a recent history of making deals together, maybe they can pull one more together off.

Trade Bait: David Savard among defencemen dominating first board of the season - TSN.ca

Now that Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen is reportedly expected to give coach John Tortorella a public vote of confidence on Tuesday, it’s fair to shift our attention to Kekalainen’s trade deadline playbook.

Six weeks away from TradeCentre, the NHL’s Stanley Cup contenders certainly will be.

That’s because Columbus defenceman David Savard might be the missing link on a contending team’s roster.

Just ask the Toronto Maple Leafs’ forwards, who got a heavy dose of the hulking Savard and fellow Blue Jackets blueliner Vladislav Gavrikov in their five-game qualifying round series.

Savard is part of the quartet of top-four defencemen that make up the top four spots on the first TSN Trade Bait board of the season. Savard, 30, is a pending unrestricted free agent who checks in at No. 2 behind only Nashville’s Mattias Ekholm, who is the same age but has one year remaining on his deal, which could fetch a higher return than a pure rental.

Savard made life miserable for the Maple Leafs last August, a right-shooting defenceman whose minutes always rise in the playoffs when games matter most.

So, he will be in demand. The only question is whether Kekalainen – who has a history of playing out contracts to their completion – will pull the trigger before the deadline.

But the fact that this season has been a real disappointment in Columbus, with the Blue Jackets sitting seventh out of eight in the Central Division based on points percentage, plus the lack of meaningful extension talks with Savard, should indicate where this is heading.

Stay tuned.

Difference this time around is that the Kings are in a playoff push. They aren't going to sell anytime soon.

I would love for Kyle to target one or two of

Granlund 3C
Savard RHD
Rackell top 6 depth.

My dream lol

Granlund is a top 6 wing option but any time i have an interaction with that fan base they're pretty adamant he's not a center

I don't think he's a center either but I think Engvall has been doing very well as the 3rd line center anyway, and Kerfoot is also capable.

I've been saying he hasn't been a center from the first time he has been mentioned as an option for the Leafs and people still think he can be a 3C here.

He's way down on my list of choices. Even if we go for a winger, I would turn to Palmieri or Iafallo long before him and they likely don't cost significantly more to acquire.

I wouldn’t really considering making a trade around Kempe - Dermott “selling”. LA is in a terrible division, they’re only competing for a playoff spot if you even want to call that because Anaheim and San Jose are complete trash and Arizona is pretty awful as well. They’ll probably stay in the 5th/6th spot “fighting” for a playoff spot but they won’t be passing Colorado, Vegas, St. Louis and Minnesota.

I think Kerfoot looks better as a wing personally, I don't think Engvall scores enough to be a regular 3rd line center as well

A shutdown 4th line center? Yeah I can see that but I think the 3rd line is to high for a guy that offensively challenged

I quite like him, he's a strong 2 way player that would help any line come playoff time imo

Looking ahead to free agency, wonder what Adam Lowry would cost? Is he a true 3rd line centre or closer to a 4th?

Yeah I agree. Prefer Engvall as a 4th line C, dude needs a map in the offensive zone and shouldn't be relied on the 3rd line consistently. Ideally Dubas finds a legit 3C who can move up the lineup and not miss a beat in case of injury.

There's no way that position is ignored this summer, it will be interesting to see what is done.
