I can't wait to lose every UFA we have sans Girardi and Callahan for nothing this summer.

Can't help but feel like that's where this season is headed.

it happens to most teams really. The team is doing pretty good right now but we still say trade Boyle and Moore who are the main Pkers and a good 4th line.

Stralman is 2nd pair. Next yr I think Klein is the 2nd pair D and McILrath plays but do you really want them to deal a RD now that they have 3?

Girardi will be signed ideally. Cally hopefully but sounds like they would deal him if not

Pouliott started crap but is doing well now. 50/50 if he stays. if its the same price I guess I would keep him

basically saying its not shocking if they stay and some leave as UFA, happens all the time

Blues lost Sobotka to a broken kneecap. He will be evaluated in four weeks. That's not a four week injury. Maybe the Rangers include Boyle or Moore with Dorsett returning from the broken leg after the break and Lindberg getting better and better.

Aren't going to get a center from the blues. They are in much the same position the rangers are in terms of centers.

If they make a trade it is going to be for wingers and maybe a defenseman.

Maybe but would guess STL waits to see how the injury has healed and if bad news they make a deadline rental deal

So if its Cally for Stewart can the Rangers pry Rattie or Jaskin away? Tempting

If we add someone NHL level to backfill this injury say a Dorsett or Boyle or Moore or Pouliot then I think we get another nice piece back like the aforementioned or Paavarni. The blues have a couple of good D coming up, both I believe play he right in Siemens and Bigras.

Jeez, they have a deep team. Kudos to A JD rebuild.

If Callahan impasse continues, should it look like this:

Cally/Pouliot/Yogan (or fill in to make contract #s work) for Stewart, Rattie, Bigras and a 2nd? I think we bite do they?

Stepans quote nailed it.

it's not personal

Like many other posters here I've spent more time than I should contemplating what we should do with Cally. It's easy to say "sign him, he's our Captain". Just give in. Hope for the best. That logic has bit us in the ass how many times though?

Too much money. Too many years. End of story. The writings on the wall. Even Helen Keller could read it.

A smart organization would trade Cally. A stupid, short-sighted one would cave and sign him to a stupid deal.

For the guys that want Cally @ his ludicrous demands: are you high? Serious question.

One of the few times i will come in peace...a quick question, forget about seeing cally in an isles uniform for a month.

Cally, Talbot and 1st or a top prospect
For
Vanek

Isles will flip Cally by March 5th anyway for a lessor pick and possibly a prospect. Isles would get a goalie thats better than Poulin or Nilsson and under contract, the rangers would have a first line of Vanek-stepan-nash for the playoffs.

No way.

Not parting with Talbot unless a goalie is coming back.

Not parting with a first or top prospect for a rental.

Rangers aren't trading for rentals. Especially not 1st's

Not trading Talbot.

Callahan should go out West.

It will never happen in reality. Anyway huge overpayment by the Rangers.

Too much for rental Vanek. No way the Rangers would re-sign him.

You'll also be met with a lot of people who are going to be very mad at the thought of trading Talbot.

Callahan isn't going in a deal for a rental. He's going AS a rental. He'll return two or three nice pieces for the Rangers if they play it right.

That's a terrible deal for the Rangers. Who plays backup for the Rangers?

The Rangers have so many contract issues to deal with between today and the summer.

Now the theory is Sather gave one team permission with speak with Bartlett and told him 7 years is too much. That will really dissuade Bartlett from rejecting the Rangers overtures. Bartlett took Erik Cole out of Carolina and put him in Montreal for 4 years/$18M. Cole was comfortable in Carolina. He followed the advice of his agent. Callahan will get 7 years in July.

The Rangers operate so slow under Sather. Its always been that way.

the thing is that sucks.. we're so quick on july 1st, but never take care of our own.. look at hank.. prob the most important player and what they mean to their respective team.. he shouldve been locked up a long long time ago, not in dec.. slats is a joke..

his theory prob is last min, to have gm's scramble and make irrational decisions so he can fleece the other team over..

If we re-sign our RFA's in Zucc, Kreider, Brassard and Moore that's potentially 5 mil in raises with the bulk going to Zucc. Girardi rumored to be around 2 mil more, Hank more then 1.5 and Stralman possibly around another mil. That's close to 10 mil with the cap only going up 7. Even if Richards is bought out and most of that $ goes to Cally, that's the same team minus Richards. I don't see how Cally can be re-signed even at 5 mil. Even if Boyle and Pouliot walk there isn't much wiggle room. Unless im missing something.

Callahan is making 4.275m (something like that), a bump up to 5.5m is a 1.225m increase. a bump up to 6m is 1.725m increase. I don't see how most of Richard's 6.6m gets eaten up by Callahan's raise. I see 5m of Richards' 6.6m still available to fill out the roster.

Mr. Potvin doesn't understand our organizational depth problems in the goaltending area. We don't have a replacement on the way. Also that Talbot is a major reason why we're in a playoff position.
