If the Sens are sellers around the deadline, I would love to land Milan Michalek. I have no idea what the cost might be but I know they're stacking up on Swedes and wouldn't be against moving Tallinder, Josefson and a prospect for MM.

His cap hit is in the area of 4.33M$ per but he's due to make 4.75M$ this year and 6M$ next year in "real money".

Jonas Hiller is a free agent after the 2013-2014 Season.

Is this supposed to be in regards to picking him up to play here? No way I want him. We were just talking about him the other night. He has the worst 5 hole in the league. If you've ever watched a few games from him you'll notice he gets beat there way too much. Even in our game against them last year I remember him getting beat through there. Maybe even both times, and in the shootout he got a huge piece of Kovy's, but it trickled in. Never realized he didn't stop it until he heard the horn go off.

I'd take my chances on someone like Backstrom depending how he does the next couple of years. I'd even take Mikka Kiprusoff possibly as a stop gap. They'd be older, but they'd be much cheaper and all we need is a stop gap anyway hopefully.

I actually see quite a few Ducks games living way (way) out west, and I'd have to say that I'm firmly in the "there's something not quite right with him" camp when it comes to Hiller at this point. He's very talented, but I'm not sure he'll ever be the same after that weird vertigo problem he had. Fasth has basically stolen his job already...

Kipper is finally starting to break down, which is understandable given how hard they ride him (is there a more blindly stubborn franchise in all of sports?). So no, I'd pass on him as well.

I don't even know if the vertigo has caused him to become unreliable. He's just got an awful 5 hole. He's also a boring Allaire butterfly.

I'd love to have Ondrej Pavelec. If the Jets didn't have one of the worst defensive systems in the league, he'd be a top 10 goalie for sure.

In before ''He had a 906 save percentage last year and has an 886 now, would would suggest he's a below average goaltender.''

We're talking a stop gap here. You would pass on Kipper before you would Jose Theodore? Or Nabokov? Those could be our options come 2014. You know Wedgewood, or Kinkaid won't be the starter in 2014 whether Marty retires or not. With Frazee up there who isn't a free agent until 2014, I think it would take an injury to him, or Kinkaid to get an AHL spot. That or an injury to one of our guys which would cause one of the Albany tandem to fill in with the big club.

Hiller was a great goalie. He used to be so reliable. But ever since that problem he has not been the same. But if he regains his form somehow, he can be scary good. I honestly would be willing to use him as a stop gap if he is available on the cheap. One year contract.

Pavelec can be a beast when he's on his game, he's just never had a very solid D surrounding him. He is very underrated. The Jets would be foolish to get rid of him.

I haven't seen that much of Pavelec, but he does seem a bit inconsistent. Spectacular in some games, out to sea in others. And I do think the save percentage probably reflects this, regardless of the poor defense in front of him.

Ultimately, we're probably better off trying to develop our own kids anyway, which is doubtless the course Lou will take.

Well, call me crazy but I think Marty will actually play (effectively) a little past that point, so stopgap might only be necessary for the backup, if Moose doesn't stick around.

He could play past this sure. I wouldn't bet on it or against it at this point. Last year I said 11/12 would be his last year I think. Then around the halfway point of the season he kept saying he expects to be back next season. From then on I thought he would be back unless we had a bad remainder of the season, and choked out of a playoff spot.

Even if we won the Cup, and people were saying ''This is probably it for him'' I still thought he'd be back. I think playing for the Cup is what ultimately made him wanna play two more years rather than just one.

In all honesty, they're going absolutely nowhere, with or without him. If they didn't have that insane home crowd in half their games, it would be more obvious that they're still just "Thrashers: Special Prairie Province Edition" with no real major upgrade on the horizon. Pavelec can't do much to change that, one way or another.

Michalek plz

My ears perked up when I heard he was scratched the other night, and giving Elias another Czech to play with is never a bad idea... but I don't think he goes anywhere unless they're in full panic mode.

They don't seem to be approaching that point yet - but we'll see how they feel around the deadline, I guess.

It would be nice to have a 'Hedberg' available to be a stopgap and help one of the kids acclimate. Unfortunately Hedberg himself will be gone by the time Marty is too. Maybe Nabokov can play that role, he'll probably be as old then as Hedberg is now but he's still getting it done as a starter, even on a bad team.

Kipper is kind of shot, maybe he'd be rejuvanated when he finally plays less games but I think Calgary's worn him down to the nub.

If they go on a bad stretch and are stuck on the outside looking in, I can see Murray trying to add more youth for his "rebuilding" team. They have guys like Alfredson and Gonchar who are a year away from retirement, Phillips apparently is the new version of Derian Hatcher and there pipeline isn't all that great.

They do have some young talent in Karlsson, Cowen, Zibanejad, Turris, Silfverberg and Lehner but I think Michalek can be a solid trading chip if he chooses to go that route.

I have no idea what the price would be but I wouldn't mind sending them a roster player to make room for Michalek, wich could be Tallinder since EK is out for the season and a couple of prospects like Yayo/Loktionov/Tedenby and Gélinas/Burlon/Scarlett.

Another big body who can rack up pts and solidify our top line would be a very solid addition for our cup run and it won't cost us a arm and a leg like Iginla, Perry or any other superstar that might be on the block.

Kiprusoff will be like 39 by the time Marty hangs them up

no thank you.

He'll just be turning 38(If Marty is done in 2014)

So will Thedore, Nabokov will be 39, Backstrom will be 36, etc. These might be our best options for a stop gap. There is the possibility a young stop gap like Hiller who was mentioned could get it done. If he fixes the 5 hole, and comes cheap.

Pretty sure no one is entertaining the thought of Antero Terriyaki or whatever his name is!

Craig Anderson will be a big money goalie by 2014 unless he regresses a whole lot. Don't think he will be stop gap material.

Why are we debating something that's like 2 years away? There's so much that will happen between now and then... just seems like a waste of time IMO :dunno:
