I would try everything possible to get Glencross and Giordano from Calgary while Feaster still has a job. I'm sure if we dangle Gaborik they might throw in a first as well:laugh:

I wouldn't sniff that trade if it was Hamilton and something significant.
You go from proposing for Taylor Hall, now you move on to a rookie defenseman, while giving up our best goal-scorer, 2 defensemen who both play top 4 minutes, and a 1st. Damn Berny, happy April Fools to you too buddy, you outdid yourself!

As Trxjw noted, you can't eat more than half a contract, which I didn't realize when proposing.
That said,
my deal was:

Gaborik at 100% salary this year, 80% salary next
Rangers 2015 1st
Stralman
Eminger

to Boston for Doug Hamilton + Bruins 2013 2nd

While there are 2 names of Ranger D, both do not play "top 4 minutes".

Also, it seems you think I gave away the store, and Trxjw thought I offered "garbage".

The point was, gotta give to get.
Stralman is minor addition/upgrade for Bs, Eminger strictly for depth. the real ? is if they'd gamble on Gaborik unleashed from the guff that has been Torts, on NYs dime, and would flip picks.

Hamilton is not the second coming of Bobby Orr, and he has a long ways to go before turning into Shea Weber, but he is the real deal, worth the higher 1st value he was selected (like 8th, I think) and felt this was worthwhile for both teams. If Bs do nothing, they have no added means to take on the Pen juggernaut.

Point is moot regardless of whether or not one thinks this is too much or too little as to value. For deal to work, Rangers have to offer no salary problems to Bruins to take on Gabby's number.

Handzus goes for a fourth round pick, sets the market for a guy like Boyle.

If BB can bring back a 3rd or 4th, sign me up.

considering Rangers dealt a 3rd to get Boyle, i doubt his value declined badly since.. 2ed round and close to ready NHL depth player is what his value should be.....

Oi vey. Avoid the "Columbus is willing to part with a 1st thread" on the trade board... Not only is Gaborik not worth Brassard a prospect and the Rangers first, they honestly think they can get a mid 20's 30 goal scorer for Brassard and a 1st.

Well it was stated via twitter they are not moving the first for an older upcoming UFA, rather a younger player. That was straight from the GM through beat writers.

Unfortunately Gaborik is an older upcoming UFA. I don't blame the Jackets or their fans for not wanting to touch that. If they are going to move a first in this draft, they want to stay young. They're still in a rebuild, playoffs be damned.

Oh Vey?

Sounds like they're wising up over there.

“And don’t forget,†Kekalainen said, “we have three first-round picks. If one of them helps us now, and long-term, we would think about (trading a pick).â€

Gaborik isn't washed up he's got a few good years left in him IMHO. It's not out of the realm of possibility that we could add a prospect as well or a 2nd. I feel like they are really over valuing a mid 1st rounder. Although the CBJ poster is the same guy who was totally convinced they'd end up with one of McDonagh, Stepan or Kreider in ye package for Nash.

Gaborik, Pyatt, Bickel, Thomas and Eminger for Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon and a 1st!!

Hey, this version of Gaborik sounds great. Maybe we should keep him!

I would do David Savard for the later 3rd.
This team needs his skillset in the pipleine. Let him get some seasoning in the AHL under Beuk, he needs to learn to be a little more physical and he would be ready.

Honestly? I'd trade Christian Thomas, St. Croix, and a third to rent Roy on Wednesday. I might be in the minority on this board in that mindset though. Allows the Rangers to send Miller (or Kreider) down.

Hagelin - Roy - Miller/Boyle
Pyatt - Powe - Asham/Boyle

Hey bernmeister...how long have you been pushing the cockamamie idea that Chicago not only wants Boyle, but would give up Olsen, one of their better prospects (and a recent former first round pick)?

Notice how, rather than doing that, they traded a 4th round pick for Michal Handzus?

So, let's review.

Overpaid, dime-a-dozen 4th liner for above average prospect, or cheap, veteran, 4th liner for 4th round pick? Which sounds more reasonable?

Pretty high price to pay for a rental in a year where the team isn't looking like it's ready to make a push for the cup.

How often has Glen Sather traded for a player that he had to outbid other teams for? especially at the deadline? If we pick up anyone, it will be an under the radar move most likely.

Is there a 3rd team that could make a Dan Boyle/Marian Gaborik trade work? A team that would take Gabby and send the sharks something they want...and someone throws in a 2nd or 3rd round pick to the Rangers?

I think Pyatt and boyle for picks then picks for rentals. Or straight player for players. Nystrom and ott please

Unfortunately...Boyle is going nowhere. Torts loves the guy and uses him all the time on the PK and when holding leads. There is no way we will trade him.

Not sure what it would take, maybe a couple of prospects (not sure on his contract) but I would love Curtis Glencross. Goal-scoring hard-nosed player.

How about Andrew Yogan, Steven Fogerty and a 2nd round pick?

That might be pushing it too much in our favor, but that is probably the biggest move I would like to see this team make.

Overall, I think they need to strengthen this weak d-corpse (McD and Girardi seemed gassed still, MDZ has stepped up but with Staal out our depth is being exposed with other guys not having career years), by adding a veteran, battle tested d-man.

Outside of maybe Glencross or a defensive depth move, this team should stay put and not go all in on a lockout-shortened season.

he did get alot of ice time... more than usual. i mean he is on the power play for crying out loud :help: i bet he is gone... if Rangers stand pat well that wont be a good thing... rangers should try to improve without trading the future and as long as it makes sense for the NY Rangers... i can see them dealing make a small deal now but will help later on like the John Mitchell type of deal.. Boyle is trade bait to help improve. he is replaceable like Betts D.Moore and all the other 4th liners like Orr and Hollweg etc

id rather deal Bourque than Yogan. Rangers dont have much players with size and skill.

Posted this earlier in the rumor thread
From Bruce Garrioch
A player to watch is Flames winger Curtis Glencross. He makes $2.55 million and could be available for a draft pick. Glencross is a guy the Senators and other teams seeking forward depth covet
The key to Glencross is to get him to waive his NTC.

with buff/det both willing to sell why not get ott and/or tootoo

this team needs that 3rd line sparkplug, the fact that rangers have been quiet so far is starting to worry me

trade gabby and get a few key pieces, even if it means packaging mdz and get a right side d-man who can quaterback the powerplay, and good 2nd liner depth man, and 1 or 2 sparkplugs

having a ott or tootoo would do wonders for our depth, look what prust is doing for the habs and what he did for our depth last year
